Been at it for quite some years but recently got into the appreciation of craft beer. Built some shelf and convinced my girlfriend to display my collection in the living room. How am I doing so far? Are there any beers you see that you also like or would recommend based on what I have so far? Also past your display if you have one. I would love to see more like this!
If this is your girlfriend's place then I wouldn't push your luck to add more shelves since your's are already full. Bottle collecting is a hobby that can get out of hand very quickly, so you need to decide which relationship is more important. That being said, I have about 1,300 bottles on display, but mine are in the basement in my man cave where my wife can agree that their existence is okay. I'd add a pic here (it's actually a collage of pics since one pic won't show a wide enough display) but I just discovered that it is no longer out on Photobucket for me to create a link here.
She's all for it actually. A few of them are hers. But no there wont be any more shelving, just updating on bottles that should come down for better beers. Well i'm not close to 1,300, but if I had a man-cave I would be doing the same!
I know the ground there doesn't shake like it does here, but I always get nervous looking at bottle collections on shelves that don't appear to be anchored, waxed or "fenced" in! I found out the hard way in the Loma Prieta quake of '89 - half of my bottles broke! I just stuck mainly to bottlecaps after that, except for very special bottles, which will have PLENTY of museum wax on the bottoms once I get my brewseum together again. Something to consider since I hear you have a little something called "hurricanes" down there which tend to shake things up a bit, too. Anyway, your shelves are lookin' good!
If that's in your living room I'd say pick half dozen of the coolest ones to keep there and put the rest in a basement or garage. With the rest of the space throw in a cool sign or two and some cool glassware. Hang up a few cool coasters. Make it more about a craft beer 'art' project than just displaying a list of beers you've had.
