So I lost my drainpour virginity tonight

and the beer that took my drainpour virginity!

    New Holland's El Mole Ocho

holy S***! is that stuff bad!

However I hear it through the grapevine that adding that to a Chile recipe leads to some pretty tasty Chile so I may end up buying another bottle sometime....maybe.

I would have to agree. Yuck!

This is what I'm drinking...the one on the left is empty, working on the one on the right now.

I had some with some Valdeon cheese at a beer/wine/cheese thing. Don't care too much for the beer solo, but with the right company, it's quite tasty.

I brought a bottle of it to the KBS release and no one would take a pour of it.

Granted it did taste awful to me, I didn't dump it out. Powered through it like a man

When this came out the first time, I split a bottle with a friend, and I absolutely hated it and had to drain-pour my second glass.

However, last year, I had a small pour when it was on tap, and I found it pretty enjoyable, and much closer to the mole flavor that I expected. It really had some nice notes in it.

It perplexes me how the experience could have been so drastically different. Palate change/development?

Personally I liked it. Not amazing, or even great, but enjoyable.

It isn't bad, you definitely wanna share with others though. I wouldn't of drainpoured it, you should definitely cook with it, chili, Mexican, etc.

I've stayed away from this beer and believe I will continue to do so...unless I want to make chili cause I heard that it also is great in that dish.

I had it on tap at the pub... needless to say I'm glad it was only a 4oz taster.

It is a great cooking beer. I will leave it at that.

Ohhh this is a polarizing beast. Not all that tasty, IMO, but not horrible. I've had much worse beer before. New Holland is allowed a few slip ups.

The first time I tried it, I wasn't very impressed. My friend and I had unknowingly bought bottles on the same day. We split his.

I took my bottle to DLD in the hopes of getting rid of it. However, I really enjoyed it there. Perhaps it's just good in small quantities. Everyone I shared with enjoyed it as well. Weird...
