I unfortunately was underwhelmed by my first Lunch. I think I built it up too much.
It was in no way offensive it just didn't blow my mind and at the hype/price point I was expecting more.
I did manage to finish the bottle.....

If you liked Grapefruit Sculpin over Lunch, then you had an old bottle. GF Sculpin is one of my top ten hyped beers I've ever had. In a bad way...

I really enjoyed the (fresh) bottle of Lunch I recently tried. Excellent IPA. But did think Zoe was an overall better beer.

I would be super down for MBC 4-packs. I wonder if that would ever become a reality.

Yes, I got a fairly dated bottle of Zoe, and don't get my wrong, I was impressed, but feared the fruit had fallen off. After listening to the review of it on the Beerists this afternoon, though, it seems I might have gotten a pretty typical example. Saw a Peeper that was at least 3 months old. The previous year, I bought and had a bottle of Mean Old Tom, which was solid, but not exceptional.

For me Lunch is good, but MO is great. Had both extremely fresh right at the brewery two weeks ago, tasted great really fresh. Cheers.

Utter crap?? That's just ridiculous. Maybe you got an old bottle or whatever, but "utter crap" is just way over the top and an insult to the brewers.

Yep, I had mine last winter. Huge let down. Dinner was better, but another pretty big let down.

I think I'm getting spoiled with fresh stuff. So many fresh IPA's are spectacular when they are 1-3 weeks old.

Great beer, Lunch is lunch, but Dinner is more. I like them a lot as well.

I've had Lunch on tap (today actually :grinning:) and from the bottle. I thought it was a solid IPA, but apparently my taste buds have been fried due to the hop monstrosities that are Tree House and Trillium. To me Lunch was a fairly balanced IPA, but not the hop bomb or citrus bomb that i'm accustomed to….thanks Trillium! :flushed:

I remember my first Lunch. And my second. And my third. Couldn't figure out what all the east coast fuss was about. Then I had a Gandhi Bot. TOTALLY REDEEMED my trade.

I love Lunch! Keep yer eyes peeled for Another One, another great IPA from MBC.

Lunch was good. Sharing at my homebrew club, Another One was also universally preferred and I completely agree!!!

It's a beer that gets old fast in my mind. Not "OMG it's fading after two weeks", but rather "this grapefruit bitterness is destroying my esophagus". Regular Sculpin is better, and it's overrated too.

Lunch is delicious, and I find I appreciate it more the more I have of it. I initially thought Another One was better, but have changed my mind after repeated consumption of both.

Gandhi-Bot is a double IPA. Different beer altogether. Put that up next to MBC Dinner and you will have a fair comparison.

Dinner overrated? You're a certified lunatic.

Well aware kind sir. Still stick to my statement.

Was not all too impressed with Lunch for the style IPA style. Not that I thought it was bad. Just expected more. Although it was nearing 5 weeks in the bottle. Loved ZOE though for the style.

Was impressed with Gandi for the DIPA style. I arguably liked this as much as Heady. (Blasphemy... I know)

Dinner is one of my personal DIPA Whales I'd love to get my hands on. Would love... LOVE to get the opportunity to get my hands on a fresh specimen.

    Cheers!

If you send me a shipping label i will send you Another One, which is my personal favorite Maine IPA

Edit: By "Another One' i refer to a beer made by MBC, not another Lunch, which i don't have on hand at the moment:slight_smile:
