Haha, it's just that Trillium, Heady, Abrasive, King Sue, and a bunch of other IIPAs are better. Dinner commands a hefty price on the trade market and the secondary market, but it's nowhere near worth that. It's a bigger Lunch, and that means balanced and well-crafted, but less impressive than comparable beers.

    Palates gonna palate however.

Had Lunch on tap at The Carriage House in Mahopac, NY last night, was bummed when their Mo kicked, but psyched that Lunch was their backup!

Lunch is good not great. Dinner is fantastic however neither really stacks up compared to heady, lawsons, trullium, pSue, pliny, and many more.

MBC makes some great beers...Mo and Lunch are fantastic and I really enjoy both but I also think Peeper and Another One are top notch and get overshadowed...

I just missed Dinner by a couple days on my visit to Maine in April...hope to try it one day...

Never had Heady, but Dinner trumped Pliny and Lawson's by a city mile. IMO.

Yea oookkk. Unless you live in Montpelier VT this is some of the worst hyperbole I've read this month.

If you want to claim it's overpriced, sure, but your mediocre local PA brewer is NOT producing a better product than Lunch.

Right because saying, "it really does not match my palate" is not nearly enough.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I couldn't agree more with your sentiment. I bit my tongue... until now. Total absurdity.

People are really splitting hairs here on the price point between MBC and Trillium bottles. With the exception of Dinner and other special releases, if you go to the brewery, almost all of the bottles are either $5.00 or $6.00 for a 500 ML (16.9 oz) bottle. Trillium bottles range from $8.00 to $10.00 for a 750 ML (25.4 oz) bottle. If you do the math the cost per ounce is really quite comparable. Yes, MBC is slightly more but they also donate money to environmental non profits. I'm okay with that. That being said, both breweries make great beer and I will continue to purchase both with no complaints.

While I'm glad that the OP had their first Lunch, we really don't need a thread every time someone tries a beer for the first time; or the chitchat and banter that follows. Write a review. Drop it on your profile page. It's what these other parts of the website are for.
