Reflecting back to the first releases of the then FUN BBH and varients, we are now upon another release on 6/13. Threads hit the board with enthusiasm on when and where to find this barrel aged elixir. Now, it seams to have been announced and no threads are popping up. Has BBH been moved to the back of the list in terms of hype and gotta have it or has other Houston breweries caught up to Karbach with their barrel programs? Or, has Karbach ' s barrel program passed up the hype on BBH with other FUN series beer like the BBQ that was released?

Didn't even realize that there was a 6/13 release!

I see cases of BBH sitting on shelves in certain places every time I've gone to San Antonio over the past year or two... no clue when release dates are because it's always available... is this beer still selling out quick in Houston?

Not as fast but still goes fairly quickly at most places.

It's a delicious beer, but nice gotten to the point where I'm pretty hesitant to spend 13.99 on a bomber of anything.

I think it has more to do with the increased frequency of its production. Personally I love the fact that every 6 months or so I can pick up a couple of bottles (or a couple of cases if I really want) of this beer. It's easily the best BA stout/porter made in Texas and the fact it's becoming readily available is fine by me.

    This.
BBH is one of my altimeter favorite brews, and I drink it every chance I get. I think 003 was my first BBH, maybe way off. Either way, it's just not as hard to find anymore so the threads aren't showing up. My $0.02.

That being said, this beer is by no means a shelf turd in Houston. You can find it here and there a month after release, but it's long gone from shelves by the time the next batch comes out.

They need to barrel age Three Legged Lab.

I keep hearing that they're planning to, but no news on a release yet. I assume it will be put in the F.U.N. series.

I agree that the reduced hype is the result of increased availability. It's not nearly as tightly allocated as it used to be. Hell, I was able to snag a keg of Chocolate with zero difficulty the week before ACBW, and I still have another keg of it aging in the cooler to tap alongside regular and Cherry BBH. I'm very glad that this has happened. Once the hype of a beer dies down, people are more inclined to actually enjoy the beer.

I assume you disagree. You are entitled to your opinion. Just curious what you like better so I can track it down and drink gallons of it

Porter, sure, best in Texas; though a close contender would be BrainDead's Hammer of the Gods. Stout, I disagree. Though I feel it to be very, very tasty and deserving to be up there in the discussion. And you are correct, it's certainly my opinion and only an opinion. I have enjoyed (all barrel aged, I just don't want to type it out in front of every beer) pumpkinator, legion, 2015 temptress, 2015 la muerta (plus variants), archeron, BB8, weasel rodeo as much or more than BBH. Aside from legion, you won't find gallons of those sitting around; so in that aspect BBH wins :stuck_out_tongue:

They released some at the brewery tasting room. I missed it though, love to try it sometime!

I'm cool with the lack of insane hype- now I can walk into the store and easily get a bottle whenever I have a craving for it.
