What a lovely day for a drive! Postponed leaving until the freezing rain had passed, but still had the joy of a 2 1/2 hour schlep through rain and gusting winds. My little Honda Civic was not made for such days. The weird thing was that when I got to Iowa, the rain stopped, and by the time I got to Toppling Goliath - which in my book kicks Disneyland's butt as "The Happiest Place On Earth" - it was actually pleasant out. Heading home was sadly a mirror of my trip down - driving in Iowa was pleasant, then I hit the MN border and bam, crappy weather all the way back to St Paul. While there I enjoyed some brews with some friends - and this is why you should be paying attention - who were kind enough to help me out so I could share some Assassin with my Twin Cities BAs. BM me if interested.
And hey, if you already got some (Assassin), let this one slide by, I'd like to get it into the hands of people who didn't make it down there. I love this brewery, it's like my little brother who makes beers that make my head explode. I want people to be able to taste and enjoy their deliciousness.
Wow, I didn't realize how far Decorah is from Madison, mainly because there is no good route there. I'd love to try even a sip of Assassin, at least that is what dreams are made of. Glad you made it safe to and fro and got to meet some cool people as well. Cheers.
Sounds similar to my trip. Maple Grove, MN to Decorah, IA. 2hr 57m. Kinda peaceful, all the 'rural.' Although the complete lack of AT&T signal once I hit IA was kind of annoying.
Just to be clear - I would not bore you with the mundane details of my boring trip if I didn't have some Assassin to share with my fellow Twin Citians, that's really my only reason for posting.
I didn't get any assassin and I need a bottle in my life to share with my buddy and other BeerAdvocates for a going away party in two weeks!!! What do you want for a bottle
This is a perfect illustration of what beer advocacy should look like. We are truly lucky to have such a great beer community here in the Twin Cities. Thanks for your thoughtfulness and generosity, and, of course, for hooking me up.
