Visiting myrtle this week from Indianapolis. What are my best options for brewpubs and liquor stores? What local / regional stuff should I look for? I know very little about this region.

    Cheers

The Piggly Wiggly at Market Common is by FAR your best bet for buying while there. As for bars, I was told For What It's Worth is one of the better places, which is directly across from the Liberty Taproom, which has pretty decent food and some locals on tap from New South and the like.

Are you driving? If so, we could help you out if you're coming through NC.

While you're in Myrtle, head to the Pig at the Market Common - just south of the MB airport. They carry the full lineup of Westbrook and COAST - 2 excellent regional breweries. Also, if you are looking for something super local and beery - take a tour of New South Brewing in MB. They do tours, tastings and growler fills. Awesome guys and some good beers. For What It's Worth has a nice bottle selection and some decent taps. They have also gone completely non-smoking. They have great burgers, too. Also, Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery at Broadway at the Beach and their Liberty Tap Room (across from FWIW) have some nice brews. If you are in North Myrtle, there aren't too many options besides a few places at Barefoot Landing, Damon's Grill (around 6th Ave. S.) and International Cafe. Also, check out the site listed above - the tap lists are pretty frequently updated. Enjoy your trip!

I would echo everything above and add Mellow Mushroom to the list of places with a good tap selection. It also really depends on if you are driving or flying, where in Myrtle Beach you're staying, and what kind of time and car access you have. Saying you're in Myrtle Beach is a generic term for about 30 mile stretch of coast that ranges from Cherry Grove Beach in North Myrtle to Surfside Beach. Technically there are a few different cities/areas but they are all usually encompassed by "Myrtle Beach"

You'll be close to Surf Beverage in Garden City. They have a growler station and a decent selection of bottles. Usually a treasure or two can be found. You're also not too far away from Pawleys Island - check out Pawleys Wine & Spirits and Quigley's Pint & Plate. A trip to the Piggly Wiggly is definitely in order - maybe 20 mins. up the road from you.

Sorry to hijack this thread but didn't see the need to make another one...

I am flying in from Pittsburgh and was wondering what breweries / beers in particular I should try to get while down in Myrtle.

Any recommendations for liquor stores as well?

Liquor stores are everywhere and expensive; It's a beach town. Liberty Ale House is nice, decent beer brewed in house and food, the earth won't move but it's an enjoyable place to have a beer and such. Happy hour prices are nice too.
