Just saw on Facebook that Mystic recalled Entropy, but I cannot access the Mystic site for some reason, and cant find the reason why. I have a bottle of Entropy and wanted to find out what the deal is. Thanks.

Im pretty sure I saw a post going during the last day or two about "exploding entropy". Good job to shlauncha coming up with the relevant info.

They're not kidding. I just re-opened a corked bottled I'd had in a room temperature cabinet for a few weeks. When I'd first opened it shortly after release, it was tap water-flat. Now it has easily noticeable carbonation.

It's too bad it was unexpected and the bottles can't handle it, because the result is not at all unpleasant. Something like dry champagne notes which offset the sherry sweetness nicely. I liked it quite a bit "as intended", but to my tastes the added fermentation is a serious improvement.

I wonder if the unopened bottle I have is simply guaranteed to explode, or if I could take a chance on it in some kind of containment.

if you like it enough with the infection, i'd say chill it down, and open it soon + drink over a long period with a wine stopper. store in a cool place and/or fridge. whatever this ABV tolerant strain is, it's not going to do much fermenting in the fridge.

I've been sitting on a few bottles of the recalled batch and opened one the other week. One of the biggest pops from uncorking a beer I've ever heard. Although it didn't gush there was some foam rushing up pretty quickly and the head from a cold, gentle pour was gigantic. After swishing it around and getting rid of some of the carbonation there was definitely some funkiness going on in the beer and everybody though it tasted pretty good.

I have one more bottle and will more than likely uncork it to relieve the pressure and try to cork it back up.

I bought one of these things and let it sit on the shelf for a while. I walked into my room to see that it had exploded, complete with dried beer covered glass sticking to the floor of the shelf. I brought the remains in and they refunded my purchase completely, which was really nice of them. They will definitely get my business again. Just be careful if you're sitting on some of these.

They literally asked everyone to bring back their bottles because they were unsafe. I'm glad they refunded your money, but it shouldn't have been a surprise.

not saying it was. Just letting people know what happened to me so no one does actually get hurt, etc. Not everyone pays attention to this sort of shit.

This thread started in May...are the bottles that just hit stores the same batch with the same issues?
