Mystic Brewery has announced and are selling tickets to the release of Entropy 2016 on Dec 17th You can buy tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/entropy-2016-release-party-tickets-29764079162 which comes with a bottle and they will be doing tastings of Entropy from previous years. This year's Entropy is also going to be a brewery only release. Personally I've never had Entropy because of the price, but i've always wanted to try it. Has anyone here had it, and was it worth it?
I had a pour of it at EBF in 2015. I remember it being good... but it wasn't the first ridiculously strong beer I'd had that evening, so your mileage may vary.
I had either the first or second release fourish years ago and thought it was absolutely phenomenal. Pricey, yeah, but I'd put it above BCBS, for example.
Boozy chocolate covered cherries. Absolutely delicious, but you really only need 2-4 oz. Drink it like cognac
I agree with what others have said. Amazing, boozy, and complex. I know last year the brewery was offering two ounce pours for a charge in their taproom. Made several visits to enjoy it.
I've only had batch 1 (both pre- and post- accidental refermentation), but yeah, very much in the style of a Utopias. Biggest missing ingredient is that umami (some call it soy sauce!) that comes when Triple Boch is in the blend. Entropy is a terrific sipper and keeps open for a while. Highly recommended.
Fantastic Sipper. I get it anytime I'm at the brewery and they have bottle pours available. I also have unopened bottles of the 2014 and 2015 batches. Looking forward to getting the 2016 and maybe start drinking these things
Sounds like i'll have to pick one up next time I get some OT money. Do people suggest getting it fresh or picking up an older bottle that's been sitting at the liquor store for a while? Or does it not matter?
Whoops, I am crazy late to this thread. Just to give everyone a heads up, Entropy is going to be brewery-exclusive from this batch on. Hopefully the above helps you out. I like Entropy both fresh and aged, but I have an obvious bias due to working for the brewery.
It's liquid fudge if that's your thing. Not an unfair price but Id rather go to the brewery and sample away at it. If that's not your thing, drink up. It's an amazing beer.
I planned to pick up a bottle whenever i got some OT money, but other expenses, along with other beers, kept me from doing that. My best bet is to probably go to the tap room and sample it when I have a free evening.
I had it on tap at Row 34. It was $14 for 10 oz. I thought it was great, despite the price. Had to get a glass, as I've never seen it on tap anywhere in Boston.
10 oz pour of Entropy is dangerous. Not to mention caloric. I like the beer a lot, but 2 oz is all I ever need.
