I got a used corney keg, and the posts are different from what I'm used to. I think that these are called firestone ball lock posts? And I believe they are not the same diameter as other ball lock fittings. The pic I'm including is of the liquid out. Question: how can I take this thing apart for cleaning? And another question: considering the dings the post has taken, should I just replace it? the good news is, it holds pressure quite well. It took a minute to vent the co2 before I could open it. TIA

That would be the gas in.

It comes apart exactly like any other old (non Italian, non Chinese) corny post and dip tube. It looks like your dip tube got stuck in the post, but it should pull straight out.

    As long as it's functional, I wouldn't.

    There you go.

A 7/16 box wrench well on these. Like this one.

yes sir, you are exactly right.

with a little wiggling, it has come out.

The little parts are soaking in some PBW. The keg was still reeking of soda after several rinses. I filled it with water and I'll let it soak, and I guess I'll soak with PBW if need be.

I would soak/clean it with PBW even if it doesn't reek. I'd do that with any keg.
