Barley Johns Brew Pub in New Brighton MN. I've been going there for the last 7 years whenever I travel on business to the Twin Cities. Grab one of the 6 bar stools or sit outside near the fire pit and enjoy a specialty thin crust pizza while you sample some of the best beer in MN. I travel all over the Midwest and this is my favorite place.

Adroit Theory in Purcellville, VA. I love them because they are always doing some crazy innovative things with beer. They have a fruit loop inspired beer coming out soon for instance. They also have a Bloody Mary inspired beer which is delicious and I don't particularly like Bloody Mary's. It's a nice break from the norm sometimes!

2000 bbl on a 3bbl system would be ridiculous. Considering you only yield around 2.5-2.75 bbl per brew. That would be around 1000 brews and a hell of a lot of fermentation/brite space.
    Diversify your hops

There was a place in Michigan that ran 2 shifts doing beer on a half barrel brew system that would yield 10 gallons per brew. They went to a 7 bbl system fairly quickly.

Dark Horse ran close to 7000 bbl one year on a 7 bbl system, but that was 3 shifts. Now they have a 20 bbl system.

Boneyard is way too big to be a nano.

In my mind, when I hear the term "Nanobrewery", that's what I see. Somebody with what is, basically, a large homebrew system, working out of garage or shed.

When I think of Nano, I think of a beer you can't get anywhere else except by going to the brewery (i.e. - on premise consumption/non-packaged production only).

I referred to a Seattle-area Nano, Foggy Noggin', back upthread, and in addition to their tasting room, they do home growler delivery. Just like the milkman back in the old days. They do send the occasional keg out to a bar though.

The building that they are in is cool as well. Historic mill in an old mill town.

Yea, and I just found out why the music venue attached is called the Cannery. Have you heard the story why?

I will second the mention of Baeltane Brewing in Novato, CA ( Marin County ). Great beer, nice people, and a tiny and fun tasting room.

You have to check out Alpine Brewing Company outside of San Diego. I am not sure they are a nano brewery but they make really good beer. You won't be disappointed.

Anyone heading to San Diego try the following: Pacific Brewing (just around the corner from Alesmith) and also Council Brewing is up in the same general area within a few miles. Also try out Monkey Paw in Downtown, had some really great beers from this place. It looks a little like a dive bar (and it is) but very knowledgeable staff and brewer.
