Nantahala Brewing Tasting on Black Friday

    I have talked to Joe (Owner) at Nantahala and have gotten the OK to set up a tasting for Black Friday. I will plan on bringing the following:

    2011 Darkness
    2012 Darkness
    2012 Marshall Zhukov
    2012 CCB Sweet Stout
    Speedway Stout

    BM if anyone is interested in attending or bringing any bottles.

    P.S. I plan on getting a room in town at the Microtel as police heavily enforce the area with roadblocks on holidays and I would think Black Friday would be no exception. BM me for any details as far as lodging, ect,ect.

    Sounds fun, wish I would be able to attend. I'd bring some goodies..

    Interesting the police would be busy busy that time of year up there. Bryson doesn't have much of anything, and most of the attractions will be closed, the train traffic will be minimal or close to none..


    Anyways- sounds fun!

    They run check points right as you go into the gorge on 19, especially so on the holiday weekends, July 4th, Labor Day, Memorial Day. Girl that tends bar there was nabbed and that's the only reason I know.

    Yeah, come to think of it.. I was stopped once late headed to the house from ATL, while I was coming out of the gorge near the inn... right at the flat area near the turn in for the parking.. We thought it was crazy considering it was off season for tourist, and cold as hell out there.

    Anyways.. Good advice.. Stay closer in Bryson and shouldn't have an issue.. Could also stay in Cherokee and head down the 2 exits as well.

    I'm sorry that Fin won't be able to make it, we'll be thinking of him and his family.

    We've heard through the back channels that some other beer geeks will be in attendance on Friday. I don't have quite the collection of RIS's as FIN to add to the pot, but I've got a few including some he has listed above (sans verticalness).

    On a side note, I'll be filling a few firkins of our Noon Day IPA on Friday, and I've decided to reserve one to let you guys treat as you wish. So if you want to come up with an idea here, or talk about it once you get here, it's in your hands. It's late notice, so if you decide on a rare or odd ingredient, please make it something we can buy at the grocery store or bring it with you. You can check the BA reviews for tasting notes, but a general description of our IPA goes along the lines of this:
    Well balanced, not overly bitter. Strong grapefruit flavor, slightly bready malt undertones, with a grapefruit & piney/resinous aroma.
