I'm about 100 miles from the epicenter, and the 6.0 earthquake still woke me up. It makes me wonder what is the status of some our local breweries/drinking spots: Russian River, Third Street, Lagunitas, Beercraft, and countless wineries. Crossing my fingers that they didn't suffer any damages.

This reminds me of a thread from one of the SoCal BAers. What beer would you grab before running out of your house during a quake?

    Me? My SARA.

Anybody with updates on these breweries and others, please post. Thanks.

None. Pretty sure the primary objective at that point is to get to safety.

Oof, that's a huge bummer to read. Wishing our fellow Napa BAers and their community the best.

Perhaps you should be worried about the Napa Breweries instead of the ones the next county (and valley) over?

The good news is that there was a beer festival in Downtown Napa nine hours before the quake. If it had happened then, there would be hundreds of injuries and maybe some deaths as big chunks of all of these buildings came down into the street exactly where the breweries were set up.

Colin at Downtown Joe's reports that it is a huge mess there, some glass breakage but no permanent damage and no injuries. Power is expected to be out... well, indefinitely, so business is definitely going to take a hit. The SFGate front page photo has a building with some serious damage one block from them and of the exact same architectural design, so it looks like all of downtown was hit pretty damn hard. I encourage folks in the area to drop in, buy some beer, grab a bite and tip well.

Don at Napa Smith doesn't do much social media, so no word from him on anything. They probably have the most to lose, with their huge inventory of glass and large tanks full of beer. A few popped hoses could be disastrous.

That earthquake was no joke. It felt pretty strong here in Santa Rosa. Certain areas of our county our still with out power but we got no issue when compared to Napa. My buddy house shook so hard he last all the stuff on his walls as well everything made of glass in his kitchen.

I hope that never happens here! Richter scale is logarithmic, which means 8.0 is 100x stronger than 6.0.

I thought the barrel room at Silver Oak took a major hit also.

Give it time, eventually CA will split from the rest of the US and go hang out with Hawaii.

    it's been there, done that.

But seriously, you can scoff at a 4.0, but a 6.0 and above is something you probably shouldn't dick swagger about that it felt like a massage or some shit. Stop trying to be all Earthquake hard, especially when if this happened during the day, you'd be hearing about deaths.

I still walk out of my house at anything above a 5.0. Of course the last time I dealt with one of those I saw the glasses shimmying to the edge..grabbed my already open beer and walked outside.

Been in a 6.2 once, and that was more than enough for me...it makes the 5.0s feel like a tickle but still...crappy situation for those businesses and the people in the area.

Yup. I remember the Northridge earthquake like it was yesterday, which was around the same magnitude, and that was terrifying as a kid.
