So the wife and I will be heading from Chicago down to Naples and Key West the last week of September.

Are there any suggestions for beer bars and/or breweries we should hit up while down there?

Also, any suggestions for beers that don't hit Chicago distro (year round/seasonal/special release)? I'd like to bring some gems home with me. I'm hoping there's some Cigar City stuff floating around...

    Thanks!!

Two beer bars to hit in Key West are The Porch and Crawl off Duval.

I live in the Naples area, there is plenty of Cigar City stuff down here. While here in the Naples area, go north just a little to Bonita Springs. There is a New England bar called Landsdowne Street (on 41 or Tamiami Trail). They carry lots of craft brews in bottles and always have a good selection on Draft. Jai Lai is just about everywhere down here on draft now.

As far as Key West is concerned I agree with the above post from PthPndr. It's bar central down there. Stop in and check out most of the bars there. Key West is a lot of fun.

    Thanks for the info!

Can't travel without first getting the skinny on the local beer scene

Enjoy the ride down through the Keys, it's one of my favorites. You'll probably want to avoid making the trip on a Friday afternoon or a Saturday morning as it can get backed up. If you're looking for a funky place to have a bite on the way, http://www.nonamepub.com . It's about 45 minutes from Key West.
Once in Key West, the Porch is my favorite place to enjoy a good beer and watch the crowds go by.
Kelly's is the only brewpub in KW, beers are ok, wings are really good.

Did my search and was glad to see something in Bonita Springs. We'll be in the area, specifically Naples/Bonita Springs, traveling north through Tampa Bay then the Panhandle. Any other suggestions? Def making a stop at Landsdowne Street and then CCB in TB.

Any other bottle shops appreciated, also bars/restaurants on or off that route.

Second the recommendation of The Porch and Crawl on Duval. Also, if you make the obligatory trip to Sloppy Joe's, keep in mind they have a room connected to the main bar called Joe's Tap Room that has a lot of craft beer on tap. If you are hanging out at Sloppy Joe's, you can order beer from the tap room and waitress or bartender will bring it over.

Whenever I go to Islamorada or Key West, I stop for breakfast/brunch on my way out at Bob's Bunz/Islamorada Bakery for the Blue Crab Eggs Benedict. http://www.bobsbunz.com/

Peg's Cantina in Gulfport, FL is in the Tampa Bay area. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22147

Do not go to Kellys for the beer because it is pretty horrible. I agree the food is good. There is an Irish bar near the wharf that is decent (cant remember the name), but the porch is probably the best place overall.

Irish Kevins is the Irish Pub on Duval Street.

Irish Kevins has a good craft selection. So does Finnegan's Wake Irish Pub, which might be the one the other poster was talking about. It's not easy to find good bottle shops in the Keys, but if you just want to go to a bar and drink craft beer, there are actually quite a few options.

I'm surprised whenever Naples comes up no one ever mentions Naples' only brewery, Naples Beach Brewery. Myself and 3 other BAs visited in February and we thought most of the beers were very good. Their website has the tour/visiting hours. Well worth it, IMO.

I work in Naples. You have to hit the tw there. It is the best bottle shop in the area. A couple of places have a decent selection, hurricanes at coconut point, south street in Naples, and fort Myers brewing company are worth a visit.

Finnigan's Wake is the one I was thinking of.
