Gansett was my gateway beer that set me out on a mission trying craft beers so CRAFT. I was a Bud Man until I tried there Summer Ale and I never looked back. There Porter was also the first "dark" beer I ever liked The Lager is not bad for a beer that I can find for as little as $4.35 for a 6pk of kingers. Seasonal are $8.

What if it takes a "crafty" beer to get you into craft beer??? My wife actually tastes beers with me because of Blue Moon. Can't always knock the orange slice dudes.

We had a 'lawnmower beer' blind tasting a few years ago, and Gansett won hands down. (For the record, Colt 45 came in last.) Anyways, the Gansett from back in the day and now are two different things. Sean Larkin, from the fine Trinity Brewpub in Providence brews them I think. I've tasted several. The porter was very good. Anyways, hush hush - good beer for cheap!

'Gansett's craft offering were my gateway beers a little over a year ago. Drinking a Bock right now, very tasty and its anything but crafty.

My favorite style of beer is porter and the 'gansett porter is richly malty and not too hoppy, which are the attributes I hold highest. I've had the bock, summer ale and lager and rate them drinkable. You can do better. I'll add a "me too"- who cares who makes good beer, it just has to be good beer.
