Another shandy! Black Cherry? Really? Ridiculous! With Cream and Bock gone now all I have is thesummer ale for now and Boh Pils Give me a god damn solid tallboy IPA. Is it that difficult?

Who says you're their target demographic? You do realize how ridiculously popular shandies are in the mass market now, right?

If you have had their attempts at IPAs this would be the last thing you'd be asking for. I'll take a black cherry shandy all day over the IPAs they have put out. They seem to be going for a certain type of drinker now and those people aren't here.

There is a new label approved for Town Beach IPA cans along with the Allie's Donuts Double Chocolate Porter.

That doughnut porter sounds awesome. Guessing that's a fall offering for this year.

I could see the cherry shandy being decent. Supposedly it's going to be tart and not sweet. Could be a fun hot day alternative.

Also psyched to hear about Town Beach in cans.

Agreed. I'd take a case of the regular Del's over one bottle of either of the recent IPAs. I get why they're doing another shandy but it makes me wonder where the older seasonals will shake out. We know what happened to Bock this year. I worry the same thing could happen to Fest.

Meh. I just want them to just bring back the old porter. And let's not get it twisted, it's not a doughnut porter. Doughnuts are the branding, it's a chocolate porter. I'd bet it's near the same base as the Autocrat just with cacao.

Their straight up porter is one of my top ten beers ever. I wish they brought it back. It's historically significant as well as being a kick-ass straight porter (something there are way too few of on the market).

Sucks that the new shandy is RI-only for now. Hopefully they'll pump it out to Massachusetts at some point. I'm sure that it will do well since the other one is killin' it and selling out all over the place

Not sure why shandys are so popular? I believe Leinenkugel has done it for over 10-15yrs. The Masses attack Del's like its some new concept. At its basis isn't it a light lager and lemonade?

In the past I considered myself part of their demo. With the Cream and Bock, but lately, you could have a point.

I know their attempts at hoppy beers has been a disaster. But how hard is it to make a local, good IPA. Lagunitas does it on both coasts and the middle. There is still a huge need/gap for a 16oz ipa in a can, that's readily available, affordable and found fresh most times. Also that's always found in a store cold. With all the newbies around Gansett still finds itself in fridges 99% of the time at stores.

I understand that not everyone likes shandys but the last thing we need is another IPA. There are literally thousands of them.

Definitely! 'Gansett should make shandys in every Del's flavor there is before making another IPA.

    I'd love a grapefruit or lime. http://www.dels.com/lemonade.html

The Innsmouth Olde Ale is the best thing they've done since their bock.

The Summer is very good this year. Town Beach and the Private Stock Imperial were bitter is hell. If the 5% Town Beach can meet somewhere in the middle it could be good.

Really, they should just give up on IPAs.

'Gansett is losing me big time. The Bo Pils is still solid (though I would never buy it with SN summerfest in the coolers), but so many of their beers just have too much residual sweetness to them. The doughnut thing sounds horrendous. I hope it works out, and will give it a shot, but I'm not optimistic.

Skip trying (and failing) with an IPA and do a Kolsch! You could still work the small-minded inferiority complex RI-specific marketing angle too by calling it something like "Big Blue Bug Kolsch" or some shit like that.

I just try to keep them in right perspective. They fill a niche. Inexpensive beer that doesn't suck.

When they get their own brewery I think they will make beers for the craft beer fan and there will be less emphasis on serving the masses.

That would be very welcomed. RI brewery is pretty far off from what I've read.
