Didn't see a thread for them, and wasn't sure where else to ask these questions:

Are they still worth picking up? I know 'worth it' is relative, but has anything changed in their quality?

They have several of their older beers on BA's Top list for Missouri, and they just so happen to have many of those beers on their site right now. Was curious if the splurge was worth it, or if I should just stick to BKS. Hadn't heard anything about Narrow Gauge in a long while. FWIW, I really enjoyed King OJ Run last time I had it, but only had a single half can split in a blind side-by-side with something else. Would be fun to revisit that beer after having had many of the 'notable' NE producers since then.

I still like it and get a couple four packs when we are down in St. Louis, but in my opinion, BKS is better.

It's been so long since I've had Narrow Gauge, and BKS wasn't really a thing back then. I've noticed I prefer the softer, creamier texture and taste of BKS vs. some other NE IPAs (i.e. Monkish). Not really sure where Narrow Gauge sits on that scale.

May need to just pick up a case and revisit. Several new-to-me ticks too.

    I appreciate your feedback!

I live in STL city and just took advantage of NG's $5 shipping for 6 4 packs.

    Glad I did.

Poles Apart is an excellent Cold IPA. Inspired by Wayfinder in Portland, OR.

Foeder fermented UUDDLRLRBA was very interesting. All about the finish.

Bird Law is a great Pale Ale. A sucker for Falconer's Flight here.

Scales of Eternity and Paradiddle also very solid. Wanted another one, which is all that matters.

Nevermind the usual excellence of Cloud City, Fallen Flag or King OJ Run. Didn't even get those this time.

Don't forget about Modern Brewery. They're also making some great IPAs.

Fallen Flag is one I haven't tried yet, and would like to visit. Paradiddle interests me as a drummer (paradiddle being a rudiment, and it happens to be my favorite rudiment.)

Bird Law has been on my 'wants' list for awhile for the Always Sunny joke. May need to just go thru with this order.

    Thank you!

Bird Law is nearly 2 months old now as a FYI. They started taking the canning dates off the website.

NG quality is still there for the most part but there are definitely some batches that are off.

hello from a fellow drummer (and Sunny fan)!

NG is a little out of the way for me when visiting StL, but if i can swing it or they really have something i like (DDH OJ Run, PB&S, Up Up Down Down), i’ll make the trip. all of the Kings have been excellent. i know their known for their IPAs, but their lagers are really excellent too. love me some Frisches Bier and also enjoy their Kofe series (although don’t think they have any of those up right now). cheers!

I want to try the Kofe series. That and many of their OG NE IPAs that I never got the chance to visit.

I used to swing by on my way into St. Louis, but the last few times I've just gone straight to Side Project. Only reason I've passed on Narrow Gauge is the local NE IPA game was upped with BKS and Alma Mader. That, and it's well out of my way to swing by Narrow Gauge. Think I may need to just place an order and take advantage of shipping.

I also never knew you were a drummer! Cheers.

Sorry - BKS Artisan Ales. It's a brewery in Kansas City, MO that predominantly produces NE IPAs. They've spoiled me with quality hops. Prior to them, Narrow Gauge was my only source of MO NE IPAs, and that only happened when I visited St. Louis.

Happy to bring some over, if we end up in St. Louis on the same weekend. You can order their beers online, but idk about proxy pickups.

I've been disappointed with a lot of their classics lately. They just don't taste the same and even their color seems way off. Darker than they used to be. They are by no means bad, just don't compare them to the top tier as I have in the past.

I’ve received BKS cans as extras in trades in the past and always have been super impressed. Limited sample size but definitely seemed on par with NG to me and I’m a pretty big fan of NG.

Went ahead and picked up an order. This is my first time having them ship. I'm glad they added the option, I just never got around to ordering. It seems they would have one or two 4-packs at any time I was interested in, but not enough to fill a case. The current mixed pack sold me with several of those beers being on MO's top list (and new to me), and a chance to revisit King OJ Run. Last, and only, time I had that beer it was a blind side-by-side with King Jjjuliusss.

Happy to hear that, @KevinJohnson2 . I know some of their work has made Untappd's top releases of the week lists. I can certainly sing their praises. I'm trying to make a habit of toting a little BKS with me on my St. Louis trips.

ive pulled the trigger on narrow gauge cases a few times and never been disappointed, I enjoy them different than the way I enjoy bks for sure. Narrow gauge ipa are dryer and a different level of carbonation(higher)
You can’t compete with the dozens of hops bks uses. Ng oj run and fallen flag and the foeder age offerings are very very good and very worth it.

I would not throw only bks and Alma mader in the haze game for Kansas City. Grains and taps, strange days, torn label, path light and Rochester and also wind shift have hazies that are insane tasty

Interesting. I'd actually throw City Barrel in right behind Alma with their Boombox Serenade series. Strange Days has come up in a big way. I bought Firmly Grasp it after not having visited them in a year or two and really, really enjoyed that beer. Need to keep them on my radar. They've been doing "Raw" IPAs as of late and curious about this new style.

FWIW, my Narrow Gauge order should arrive today. I won't be able to review anything tonight, but will share my thoughts when the time comes.

Also, hoping to try BKS Double-Double Yellow this weekend. Guess this is a quazi KC hops thread
