Sounds like trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

Ten Fidy by a mile... way tastier: less roasty, sweeter, more viscous. There are so many very dry RIS on the market, that I prefer a bit of a sweeter RIS.

Granted this is coming from a guy who actually likes Dark Lord.

Agreed. For the money can't beat it. Old Raspy is right there too.

at least the booze settled down from when I first got it. some beers just need more time and I'm hoping this is one but after the first two, it's not like im holding my breath that it's miraculously going to change into a top 3 IRS stout for me. Again, not like it sucks, just not a favorite for me when there's plenty others out there that I enjoy much more.

I have Founders RIS and Breakfast stout, Expedition, Ten Fidy, and Plead the 5th all from last year in my cellar. To me they are all in need of a year or more on them on them. They are just too hot for me when fresh.

My personal top 3 IRS that are easy access to get are Yeti , Ten Fidy, Vampire Slayer. Narwhal is an awesome ass deal though for its quality.

Not surprisingly, I seem to be in the minority again. I don't think it's close. TenFidy is so far superior it's like a Major league team playing a AA team. Narwhal is a nice enough beer, but it suffers from SN's habit of over-hopping every beer they make. Plus, 10-Fidy in cans!!!!!

Everyone bitches about the price of ten fidy, but if it were in bombers at the same price per oz all you naysayers would be bragging about what a great buy it is at $7 a bomber.
    Edit, $6.42 a bomber.

Cheaper than a stone IRS. I balked at the price at first too til I did the math in my head. I've spent way more on worse so ten fidy is worth every bit of it's price to me AND I don't have to drink a full bombers worth if I don't want to.

Usually, it's late December or early January. I think the release date last year was January 1 (bottled late November), but it was on the shelves here at least a week before New Year's.

TenFidy dominates Narwhal in my opinion.

    Cheers!

It's been awhile but doesn't Old Rasputin win the low price/great taste battle in this style? I say this as someone whose last 8 beers in this category have all been Narwhals...

I do prefer the taste of Old Rasputin, but that and Narwhal are pretty close in my experience, and Narwhal is even a little cheaper here.

The 3 I have from last year were bottled on 12/20/12 if that helps

A coworker just did exactly this last week. For him, Ten Fidy was the topper, and Old Rasputin just beat out Narwahl for second.

Bar near me has 2011, 2012, 2013 TenFidy on tap truly a great problem to have and although I enjoy narwhal it does not come close to TenFidy.
