Hey headed down to Nashville and I was wondering if there are any good breweries / bottles shops to get some good stuff to take back to NY with me. Thanks!
Bottle shop: Craft Brewed Good breweries: Blackstone (Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout and Chocolate Milk Stout) http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/691/, Yazoo (Sue) http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/9020/, Cool Springs (Sweet 17) http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/21329/
May get a few more responses over on the south forum. However, I lived there for 5 years and visit frequently so I'll tell you what I've got. Breweries: Yazoo makes really good sours through their Embrace the Funk line. Hit or miss when you visit though as their standard stuff is decent. A Dos Parros with lime is a nostalgic Nashville favorite for me though. I'm partial to Blackstone for a meal and a flight as well, though others may tell you Black Abbey and Tennessee Brew Works are a step above. I'd avoid Jackalope and Fat Bottom. Bottle Shops: Craft Brewed is probably the best in town. Red Dog in Franklin is good too if you're down there. Frugal McDougal and Midtown are decent. Bottles/Cans to get: I agree with the Blackstone and Yazoo recommendations. Wiseacre out of Memphis makes some good stuff, as does Straight to Ale and Good People out of Alabama. Look for Snake Handler from Good People which is dropping this week in Nashville. Straight to Ale Laika and its BA variants are solid.
I don't know if it's Nashville or just Tennessee, but I've enjoyed what I've had from Turtle Anarchy. Also I like the name.
Travel there a bit and I agree with most of what has been said. I would add The Filling Station for growlers as well.
Awesome feedback I'll throw this on the south page as well. I'm gonna hit as many things as I can. I appreciate the suggestions. Need to fine a good taco joint as well haha.
Local Taco is really solid. I'm a big fan of Baja Burrito. It makes really good tacos, especially fish tacos if that's your thing. If you're in the Vanderbilt/midtown area, San Antonio Taco Co. (SATCO) is right there. It isn't quite as good as the others, and doesn't have the same variety of meat/topping options. Been around for a long time though.
