Charlotte has several breweries. Every one on this list is open for business, save for Free Range Brewing. Ass Clown is north of the city in Cornelius and has a small taproom. Olde Meck and Triple C are in the city's SouthEnd area, and Heist, Birdsong and NoDa Brewing are in NoDa (with the latter two being right next door to each other). Four Friends' taproom isn't open, but you can find their beer around town. Rock Bottom and Hops are chains.
Does Heist have any plans for distribution or can we start listing it as a brewpub? I know the official name is "Heist Brewery" but, honestly, the brewing part of their operation seems to play second fiddle to their high end food menu. Sure, you can get a growler to take home but I have yet to find a beer from them that I personally would.
Aside from special events here and there, I think they want to keep all of their beer in house. Personally, I think the brewpub moniker suits them well. I've heard great things about their food and hope to get up there soon.
