Hello all, I will be in Nashville over the Memorial Day weekend. Can anyone provide current brewery/beer/whiskey bar updates? Barrique Brewing & Blending sounds interesting. Any & all suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Cheers Here's a good precursor
Living Waters is also a coffee shop, so you can go drink beers at like 7:30 in the morning. (Check for exact time, but it's early)
These are brewery recs only. Barrique is an absolute can't miss, and Southern Grist (either location) is also highly recommended. Going north to south towards downtown, you can hit five good breweries that are less than five minutes apart by car: Living Waters (various styles, opens at 8 a.m.) Southern Grist East (hazies, pastry stouts, crazy sours) Smith & Lentz (lagers and pizza) Barrique (world class everything) Bearded Iris Germantown (mostly IPAs) Downtown, Marble Fox brews some decent hazies. South of downtown, Fait La Force has a variety of styles in an interesting space.
@jdhops has you covered with his recommendations. But I'd throw in Monday Night's Preservation Co. taproom in Germantown as another place to target for quality beers (no food). Not a local brewery, per se, but probably the most unique beer-centric space in town (inside and outside) and always a great vibe.
I'll be doing a weekend here this coming weekend and look forward to checking out these recs. Planning a Butchertown meal Saturday evening, followed by visits to Bearded Iris and Monday Night. Sunday will be Germantown Cafe breakfast followed by Fait la Force, then Barrique as the main event and then whatever else the day brings (possibly Smith and Lentz and/or Southern Grist). Excited to bounce around a bit.
I think brewery listed are correct, but id also suggest a HHC Pitcher and Pizza at S&L, BI Sylvan Supply Location and Black Dynasty ramen, LW West location and Bad Luck Burger/Bare Bones Butcher around the corner or Brightside Bakeshop before noon
I just returned from the holiday weekend in Nashville. Overall it was a very nice trip, (although the downtown "Bro Country" scene was not really my thing). There were plenty of other sites worth seeing, including the Cash Museum and the Country Music Hall of Fame. I'll save the Ryman Theater & Grand Ole Opry for another time, (maybe a Predators/Wild hockey trip). I was able to visit Barrique and Living Waters. Both places were first rate breweries with outstanding beer. The lagers and English mild cask ale at Barrique were as good as any beer I've had. Living Waters opens at 8:00 for coffee & beer. I got there at 9:30, so a couple 5 oz Imperial stouts with coffee was a prefect combo. The coffee was absolutely fantastic and the stouts were also great! The set up at Living Waters was very casual & comfortable, nice place to enjoy coffee/beer. The best food I had was at King Tut's Egyptian food truck, (chicken shawarma plater) and Gumbo Bros restaurant (great cajun food & good draft selection). Best entertainment I found was in East Nashville at the Basement East Venue, Tommy Prine was the headliner and Coors Banquet on draft! Nashville is a nice city, well worth a visit. I will definitely go back!
