Perrin Brewing would like to announce and congratulate Sam Sherwood on his promotion to Head Brewer.

Makes me wonder if he is going back to Founders..

Nate is not going back to Founders.
Sam is a great brewer and has been with Perrin since October and has done the majority of the brewing in that time. It's too bad Nate left because they made a good team. BTW, Sam worked at Founders when Nate was Head Brewer then went on to craft some fantastic beers at the Walldorff.

Thanks for the Info...I just find it interesting Nate left Founders for Perrin and then left Perrin in less than a year...Its also nice to know Sam's history...Ive been to Perrin once and loved it..

Nate didn't leave Founders for Perrin. He hasn't worked for Founders in since they were on Monroe St, so at least 5 years.

GO down hill? I've only had two beers from them that were decent (RJD2 and Kona Brown are prob 3.5/5's), and the rest have been really meh (certainly not terrible, but boring).

Its a good thing everyone has their own opinions because ive had a few and only a couple were meh, while the rest have been 3.5-4.5

Agree with my man Tommy. Their beers have been good enough at the random locations and events I've had them, I continue to try the next I see available. And the offerings I had at the brewpub were pretty solid.

I think you're in the minority in your opinion. I've had at least 15 different brews from them and the worst was a 3.5 in my book. Two faced Raspberry and Kona Brown were standouts but I was impressed with the quality of the beers for a "startup"

I would have liked to have seen if Nate could have attempted a recreation of KBS. Guess we'll never know.

I really enjoy Perrin's Double IPA. Most of their other offerings I thoroughly enjoy. It is odd though on the turnover.

News to me, and I know both of them(although have not talked to them in a while),guess I will have to stop up and congratulate Sammy and see what happened. Both are awesome guys and great brewers. I was really looking forward to seeing more of their creations, but now we will have to settle for sams beers.. oh poor us we only get great beer from one great brewer instead of two! Good luck Sam and Congrats! Hope you are doing well in whatever you are doing Nate!

Sam has been Head Brewer since January. He busted his ass to try and put Walldorff on the craft beer map but had limited space and money.....but now he has both! Perrin will still blow up in the next 12-24 months.
