I recently decided that it was time for me to stop making excuses and start losing some damn weight. In brainstorming ways to keep myself motivated I remembered seeing a biggest loser competition on here awhile back and thought I’d give starting one a shot.

    Rules:

    · 20 participants with good trading history (or a vet as a sponsor) lower 48 only

    · Every Participant will be sending 1 box at the end of the competition

    · Boxes consist of 3 beers and will be submitted when signing up. At least 1 beer should be a brewery only release from a notable brewery or a limited release that sold out quickly from stores (think Bourbon County variants or Parabola). The other 2 beers should be good limited locals (Imperial Stout Trooper, RR self sours, ect)

    · 12 week competition

    · Weigh-in’s every Friday will be done by posting a picture of the scale and a sheet of paper with your BA name in a private conversation with all participants. Highest percentage of weight lost for each week gets a box. If you fail to weigh-in or gain weight any given week you are not eligible to win the following week.

    · At the end of the 12 weeks the “Biggest loser” gets 5 boxes, 2nd 2 boxes, and 3rd place 1 box (all based on overall percentage lost)

    · After the competition ends the winners will pick the boxes they want.
    Pick 1 – 1st place
    Pick 2 – 2nd place
    Pick 3 – 3rd Place
    Pick 4 – 1st Place
    Pick 5 – 2nd place
    Pick 6 – 1st place
Pick 7 through 18 will be the 12 weekly winners in order of most weight lost by percentage during that week.
The remaining 2 boxes will go to the 1st place winner

    · There will be a 3 week shipping window once winners choose their boxes

    · In order to keep everyone motivated I will send a small box of locals (Vermont is kind of local I think) to anyone who loses at least 15% of their overall weight during the competition and does not win a box by being in the top 3 or winning a week.

If interested in joining send me a BM with your Name, Address, Email, Phone #, Trading references if not listed in your profile, and the 3 beers you will sending.

I would like the initial weigh-in to be this Friday 10/11 so I’ll be closing signup Thursday night or when I have 20 participants whichever comes first.

BIFfest Loser? Count me in. Gonna go buy a scale tomorrow, cuz the one I got only goes to 400lb and doesn't weigh me. Yep, I need it.

Screw it, my wife is pregnant with our first kid and I need some additional motivation to get into shape so I can keep up.
Count me in. Hopefully we get enough participants.
I'll throw in some vermont goodness if it will help drive sign ups.
Gonna put some thought into my beers so I will send you my info later.

Sounds good. I figure if we dont get all the way up to 20 participants we can just change the prizes around.

Since its come up a few times already, if you dont know the exact 3 beers at this point thats fine. I'm going to need a full list eventrually so the winners can pick from it but we can deal with that down the line. When you BM me just give me an idea of what you are thinking.

We need at least 4 more in order for this competition to be worth a damn.

To attempt to drum up some interest I'm going to throw out that 1 of the beers I will be throwing in the pot is a barrel aged dark beer from Vermont with a BA score of 98 and approximately a 7:1 want to got ratio

I've seen the guys who show up to beer events and releases and I often feel average at 320 or so. There has to be other people interested in this...

Alright so based on lack of interest it looks like this will not be happening or atleast not in the time frame/format that I laid out. I'm open to suggestions tho

I agree. We will shoot for the weigh in to be Friday the 18th.

If you have posted here and still want in but haven't BM'ed me yet make sure you send me your info so I can get a solid count.
