Agree with the suggestions to push out shipping a lil ways. 144 min sounds good to me.

 

I'm fine with the 144 (and whatever max you set); and another vote to push out shipping -- maybe start the first week of June? And just let us know when you need addresses and other info.

And I'm just curious, do folks have experience with shipping growlers? And shelf life? I usually think of a growler as a "drink within a few days" item.

 

I've never shipped, bought, drank from, or anything else with growlers... they don't have a big presence in Milwaukee as far as I know. There are a couple spots that fill em but nothing close to me so I've never had to mess with em.

 

I have shipped and received many growlers. 9 out of 10 usually are fine on carb. If you know of a place that does counter pressure filling or at least purges with co2 first, you should be fine to push it a couple weeks. Definitely use electrical tape around the top, and I have found the flip top 32 ouncers hold carb better than screw on.

I've left flip top growlers full but unopened for up to a couple weeks w/o any issues. You have about a day to drink it once the seal is broken, though.

Screw tops do not last as long.

 

Thanks a lot -- I am not sure if the place I typically go to does either of those (I will have to ask), but I am pretty sure the local breweries do. I'm looking forward to this!

 

I've shipped a handful of growlers, I always shoot for getting them boxed and out within 48 hours, but I have not ever sprung for extra-expensive shipping cost to get them there quick, so figure 5 days from pour to receipt on average, no more than 7 or 8. I have not had a complaint of loss of carbonation yet.

With that said, this is using swing top growlers and electric-taping them shut, I would not trust screw tops an further than I can throw them.
