Y'all know I'm in as hell! Love the NBS crew, and I've been lacking so frequently in the NBS forum as Sunday has become one of my non-drinking days now, but that'll have to change! Can't wait.

I certainly wouldn't ask anyone else to help take on any additional costs incurred because of me.

What is a typical shipping cost from state to state? Here in Canada, most of the boxes I send are ~$10-20 and when I've priced it out, it's been roughly twice that to ship to the US.

I do have access to a cross border drop off, however crossing the border can be a bit sticky when you're just going over and back for the purpose of beer. It's also 90 minutes in each direction, so it's not as easy as if I lived in a border town. Done it once before, where I picked up a package that was shipped from a Minnesota liquor store and I got questioned, even with a receipt, about how I made arrangements to have alcohol shipped through the mail when that's illegal (try explaining to CBSA that it's not). I can only imagine the hassle I'd be up against if I went through without a receipt.

Up to the masses though. I'd love to put a porch bomb together for someone who is interested in trying some Canadian beers and the idea of a BIF has always intrigued me. But I certainly don't expect anyone to ante up extra for shipping unless they're volunteering for it.

USPS international flat rate boxes are 60 for the large I believe, UPS and Fedex would be significantly more I imagine. I for one would welcome having a Canadian presence in the BIF, and would happily pitch in a few bucks to make it happen.

Please do not send beer via USPS. I'm just saying, they will go after you, especially now a days, it is a federal offense.

    Cheers!

Personally, I've both shipped and receive lots of beer via USPS with absolutely zero incidents. I've had more problems with UPS and fedex with breakage, but of course this isn't always the case.

I've used the Flat Rate boxes for cans (the medium holds 12x12oz perfectly) $14 anywhere in the states, but I'm yet to try bottles. The main PO in my town has a self-serve kiosk, so I don't have to lie to the counter people.

I would put the wrong weight on my UPS packages, saved some money that way.

    Cheers!

I was under the impression that this doesn't work. I've put the wrong weight on several UPS packages in the past, created the label with that weight and price quote, only to be charged more because the weight has changed...ymmv.

They never said anything to me in UT, we'll see what happens here in CO. You do have your own UPS account right?

    Cheers!

Yeah, for cans only I have moved almost exclusively to USPS flat rate boxes. Never had an issue. Have had a few with FedEx and UPS though. The kiosks are great for silent drop off, but I can't use those in the winter. Post office just thinks I ship a lot of maple syrup.

Yup. TBH I rarely use UPS now though, they are always more expensive than Fedex here, but USPS flatrate is so much cheaper than both. As long as it's packed nice and tight, no reason for them to believe there's anything in there that shouldn't be in there!

As for an early content hint, there are two new breweries opening very soon near me. Ideally, at least one of them will be open by the time this gets going. Expect crowlers or growlers of some amazing IPA's either way.

IF USPS flat rate becomes an option for some people in this group (sending and receiving), I'd be honored to be the first Hawaiian participating here. If not, no hard feelings. I'll let the veterans decide

Do the flat rate boxes cover HI & AK? Or are they Continental US only?

They come to Hawaii. $18.xx for the large, $14 for the medium
