We're good. There's been communication. I'll be sure to post when I can. He's hit me hard in a prior NBS BIF, so although a bit delayed, I'm sure some MI and upper Midwest goodness will be gracing these pages very soon.

It's not Sunday any longer, but I'm still tackling new beers courtesy of @SammyJaxxxx . This one is Blood Bath, a blood orange milkshake imperial IPA. It clocks in at 8%, is brewed with Motueka, Mosaic Cryo, and Amarillo, and conditioned on blood oranges, vanilla, and lactose.

When you read that description, what comes to mind? What do you really expect going into a beer like this?

I'm not sure what I expected, so ... I think it delivered! It's very, very dank on the nose, which shouldn't be surprising giving the hop load and being about a month old. On the palate though, it's much juicier and brighter. The blood orange comes across as almost a touch overripe, and the vanilla and lactose contribute to a sweet, smooth profile.

The body is without question the most impressive aspect. For an 8% brew, this is lively, creamy, smooth, and approachable. Really good beer overall, and I'm very glad to have tried it.

FINALLY got the second box shipped - food, swag, and a couple more beers (should be hitting Wens) - now that we've had two days above freezing. I also mowed my yard today for the last time this year - tomorrow I'll clean the mower and move my snowblower from the shed to the garage, as well as prep it (snowblower) for winter.

A couple from that beer shipping wizard @larryi86, this is a milkshake IPA of the highest order .....

The following is a description of the beer I found out on the interwebz:

The latest heavily amplified psychedelic riff on THE boundary-pushing Culinary IPA series. Brewed with gobs of oats and lactose sugar. Conditioned atop luscious Madagascar vanilla beans, blood orange, strawberry and banana purée. Intensely hopped and then dry hopped with Mosaic and Citra. Huge notes of mimosa, fruit leather, dehydrated mango, rainbow sorbet.

All of that. In a beer. GTFOOH.

And yet ..... it’s pretty accurate. It does have huge mimosa notes, and I get the rainbow sorbet (palate cleanser!), and I even get some banana. All the flavors are bright and hide any hint of alcohol (no small feat in a 7.2% ABV beer), and I have this beer firmly in the 4.35 area.

BUT WHAT IN THE FLIGGITY FLOCK IS “FRUIT LEATHER”???!!!!!???

Light coppery orange, very nice clarity, quickly dissipating lightly tanned foam with little retention and lacing

Toasty bread, light caramel perhaps even more like honey, and a light grassy aromas.

Flavor mirrors the aroma. Less caramel sweetness than anticipated, bigger grassy finish as well.

Nicely balanced beer with moderate carbonation, however, has a bit thin of an overall feel to it.

Overall, a nice Maerzen style Festbier that could benefit with some body and sweetness.

    Prost!

There are two foods in all of the foods in the world I don’t like: green peas and coconut. But I like green peas in stuff like beef stew or tuna casserole and I absolutely LOVE coconut in beer.

This milkshake IPA is no exception . From the milkshake hazy golden colored body to the foamy white head to the veritable plethora of passion fruit, vanilla, and coconut aromas that translate perfectly to the taste, to the mouthfeel that somehow manages to be firm and supple concurrently, this beer is truly a treat.

Absolutely love it. Tired Hands is the really real deal.

Glad to finally try this one courtesy of @r0rschach.

The bottle opened with a big fittzy burst, but thankfully there was no overflow. It poured a garnet-tinted black with a fat finger of dark khaki head that lasted a decent while for the ABV and left sheets of lacing.

Definite pepper and cinnamon stood out in the nose, with lighter chocolate, coffee and vanilla notes behind.

The taste followed closely. Pepper, cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla. The barrel contribution is mild, but present. Nice hint of dark fruit and touch of coffee bitterness in the finish. Some light pepper heat lingers in the aftertaste.

It has an oily, smooth mouthfeel with some moderate heft to the body and appropriate carbonation.

The pepper, and perhaps the coffee, are a little green, but it’s still got a great combo of flavors. The chocolate and vanilla play off one another perfectly, and it has a nice level of heat. This is a pleasure to try. Thanks, John. :beers:

Yet another fine brew provided by @2beerdogs . A very grassy smelling Kölsch with a nice balance of grain and a hint of lemon of the flavor. The deep straw yellow body has good clarity and a rocky, sticky bone white foam. Good carbonation, light and spritzy feel with great balance leading into a mildy bitter finish. Prost!

Crystal clear copper color with a tan head, this is a drop-dead gorgeous old school looking IPA. Ripe citrus aromas on the nose - and is that caramalt?

Yes indeed it is, as the taste confirms, the perfect backbone to the ripe tangerine and peach flavors from the hops.

This is the very definition of an “old school” IPA. A long-time want, it exceeded my expectations.

Beautiful crystal clear copper color with a very light tan head. Wow. Grassy aromas from I’m assuming noble hops up front on the nose, and a nice caramel note as well.

The caramel flavor is more prominent on the taste, and the grassy notes are present as well. The can mentions “floral,” and that is accurate. The mouthfeel is a smidge thin, but overall this is a Marzen I’d eagerly revisit.
