my wife's traveling from CT to Oak Island, NC. From my time on OI in years past there isn't much for craft shops. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to stop on the way or what to look for in NC for good Ipas and DIpas, can you get Wicked weed in stores? Any help on where I should send here or what to look for would be greT thanks guys
I have a place at oak island, only shop here is grape and ale, which the have some decent bottles in there. As far as any thing close by, there's fermentation and light house in Wilmington, which have awesome selections
Yeah, Fermental and Lighthouse would be your best bet. It has been a while since I've been down there, I don't remember if there is a decent beer store on Oak Island or not. The Lowe's Foods (grocery chain) in Southport has a decent selection for a grocery store, if you're looking to pick up groceries and beer in one spot close to OI. Cape Fear Wine & Beer (Wilmington) is probably the best beer bar in the area. As far as breweries go, there's a new brewery in Southport called Check Six that just opened. Haven't had any of their stuff, but might be worth checking out. There are a couple of new breweries in Wilmington that opened recently: Flytrap Brewing, Broomtail, and WBC. Front Street is a brewpub downtown and has been around for a while
I will be heading down 95 from MD and was wondering if there is a good selection of Wicked Weed and maybe Haw River in the Wilmington bottle shops or would it be better to go a little out of the way and hit Raleigh on the way down?
They just opened a brewery in Southport called Check 6 http://www.checksixbeer.com/home if she want to grab some growler fills
I know Haw River just made a drop at Lighthouse Bottle Shop somewhere in the outer banks. I know WW wont be anywhere but very limited spots in Raleigh and Durham.
You can also check with Hey!Beer in Wilmington, near Wrightsville Beach Road/Kerr intersection. It's a new place, they opened in January I think; nice bottle shop with a pretty good selection. A husband-and-wife team own it; they're both really nice and know their beer. They usually have 4 selections on tap to fill growlers, too.
