Hopefully the rest of the state isn’t far behind.

Sounds like your experiences with the first two batches of Strawberry M-43 were similar to mine. I loved the first one and detested the second one.

I had a can from this most recent release and found it to be much closer to the first batch than the second batch. It was so well balanced. I enjoyed it.

That’s pretty good. Now I need an excuse to get to SE Michigan. I hope the distribution footprint moves across the state quickly.

Imperial is out for statewide distro, so it will have to be local guys. That can defiantly slow things down depending on where you live and your local distributor.

I'm going to Transient and Arclight Friday and bringing to-gos home for the long weekend. I want to get my hands on some Arvon, are there any bottle shops around the area of the above 2 breweries that might carry it? Unfortunately, Arvon doesn't open til 4pm and I'm on a time crunch.

    Thanks in advance

Feel like this thread died. Anyone been seeing anything new or interesting lately?
Sideyard was top notch, glad to see it hit distro this year. But since then the NEIPA game has been a bit on the boring side.

I saw this thread pop up in my notifications and thought 'man, that one's been quiet for a while'. Guava Boss Tweed was good, but not great. Arvon is delivering all over the state but their stuff is just too 'samey' for me with nothing that really stands out. I wish HOMES would commit to a flagship NEIPA and have that available on a regular basis. I'm not driving over there to buy their beer of the week for $5 a can.

You are right though, it has been boing with respect to NEIPA here. I've been drinking a lot of stouts, Belgians styles, and seasonal releases (picked up a few cans of Jolly Pumpkin's Noel that is pretty amazing, IMO and the St Bernardus gift set which was a great purchase). It's been a good break.

I picked up a can of M43 today at my local bottle shop. It had been a while since I had had this one. It was canned on 11/30, so just a few weeks old. I'm super impressed that almost every time I see this in on a store shelf (I check a lot just to see) its less than 5 weeks. It had I picked this one up specifically to drink today and man was it was awesome. It actually seemed better than what I remembered/expected.

Love trying new NEIPAs, but 9 times out of 10 I wish I had M-43.

Moon Money from Transient and Voyager/Beach Day from Arvon have been my favorites over the last few months.

Think I have been most impressed with Ferndale Project this year. They have had some standout NEIPA's both in their single hop series and the mixed hops they do. The delivery system I have heard is really nice that they use.

I have been done Arvon delivery about four times now and they have been consistently good. I like that they mix the new hops and older hops in their NEIPA's. Though like someone mentioned some of their juice has very similar flavors which is both good and bad. I have enjoyed the double versions of Jurassic Haze, Voyager, and White Shoal. Cloud Cover by them was also really well done. (I know this is a NEIPA thread but snagged some of their stouts so interested to try that side of Arvon)

HOMES has been their normal selves, though my consumption of them has gone down even though they are the closest of the previous two. Some of their recent juice, I have not enjoyed for a few reasons that are more my preference then anything. They have also upped their prices I think about $2-$4 bucks a four pack across the board on everything which I guess I understand but getting harder to justify to me.

Also like that if you do Ferndale or Arvon delivery, you can order just one can of a beer. I have done a few mixed four packs so it helps spread out the cost and you are not all in on a four pack of a beer that you may not fully enjoy.

Also forgot to mention some of the out of state juice that has been available this year.

Hop Butcher had a two can drop that I really, really enjoyed. I hope that M4 CIC continues to bring them into the area.

Equilibrium also has had two drops in the state. Got my hands on a few and somewhat enjoyed what I had. The price tag on some of these were extremely high for the type of beer they were. Luckily, I got my hand on some singles so did not have to bear the full brunt of that but yeah $26-$28 four packs are something. Really wish we had a place doing Pales like they do, just at a more reasonable price. The malt/sweet bread flavor that some of those have mixed with the hop flavor is dynamite.

Toppling Goliath is available in I think only two counties currently in Michigan. Was able to snag some King Sue and Pseudo Sue. I thought both were excellent and again enjoyed having a Pale with flavor. Would love to see one of our fantastic juice factories around here come up with a flagship pale like this or Equilibrium's offerings.

I have also noticed quite an uptick on places moving offerings into Michigan. So much so that I have not had a chance to try that many of them. Places like Mast Landing, Threes Brewing, Lone Pine Brewing, and Short Fuse all seem to have solid rated beers but nothing out of this world. With so many new places its hard to discern what to spend your money on so relying on review scores seems the easiest method to filter through.

This is a mouthful, a bit too much for me. First time having WW, well made.

Been hitting Ellison recently, $10 fours of Dawn Street and Relativity. Both great beers. Tey are still making some great beer, and some crazy stouts.

They do make good stouts but their prices don’t seem to be in-line with the market. Maybe they are selling well but I see their latest are at $15 per can. Their stouts aren’t that good.

Pretty sick, has a good bite to it, not much juice to it.

Hey all. I've been in the craft beer game for a long time, but I don't "hunt" or try and tick off as many beers as I used to. I mainly buy staples I know I like. But without going back and reading all the pages of this thread, what are a handful of great NE IPA's readily available in SE MI I should try? Other than Old Nation stuff, I've had Easter Market Jumbo Juice recently, and Untitled Art Cotton Candy IPA that I thought was good.

Other than Old Nation, I wouldn't say any of the great ones are readily available in that you will not be able to walk into any bottle shop/craft beer retailer and find it relatively fresh on the shelf. Arvon delivers to most of the state now. I am not a huge fan of theirs, but a lot of people are. Their order/delivery process is pretty nice though. One I would recommend is HOMES. All of the beers that I have had from them have been very good. If you are in Oakland or Macomb County you may be able to find Pseudo Sue or King Sue. I've heard that Toppling Goliath is being distributed there now.

I’d agree, a swing to HOMES for some DIPA’s is a worthy drive. Arvon has some great brews, but do a lot of variety of NEIPAs, so little hit and miss for anyone’s palate, but I recommend giving them a try.

The Austin Brothers Murk series is worth giving a whirl as well. If you like milkshake IPA’s, I think Drafting Tables Orange Brewlius is one of the best ones we can get here.

Transient, a bit like Arvon, does a lot of variety, but have some good staples. The batch of Juice is Loose I picked up this summer was Tree House good.

    TLDR;
    Homes IPA’s
Transient Juice is Loose, Cromulent, Permastank
Arvon Jurassic Haze, White Shoal, Creep, Detour Reef, Berserk, “Double” offerings
Austin Brothers Question Murk, Tangerine Smoothie
    Drafting Table Orange Brewlius
    Bells Sideyard
