Wondering if using a Nebulizer and a Sentured Stone would work for aerating wort? I have an Aquarium Pump that doesn't seem to crank much out, and my we had to buy a Nebulizer for my son's asthma, but the Nebulizer seems to crank out quite a bit of air and seems like it would work better. Thoughts? Anything I should know about doing it this way? Thanks for the help.
I'm no pro on aeration, but the nebulizer is just pulling ambient air right? Air is only 20% oxygen so I have heard that you aren't going to actually "oxygenate" your wort much more than the typical pour/splash/shake methods. I am sure it would be a little bit more, but not sure that it would be enough more to warrant the extra effort. edit: I should have clarified that because you are already pulling ambient with your aquarium pump that is why I suggested the side by side. There is only one way to know for sure. 1 batch, split the wort two (or perhaps three) ways and give us your results
I would be worried about the force the nebulizer puts out blowing the stone off the tubing. Other than that I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work provided you have a filter in-line.
I would think a hose clamp or slightly small inner diameter tube friction fit would be able to handle as much O2 flow as a kid's nose and mouth.
Not really the same thing though. When using with a nebulizer cup there is no seal on the system and most of the pressure is aerosolizing the solution, not forcing it into the respiratory system. You just passively breath in the aerosol that is formed from the pressure. My concern is that you may have too much restriction depending on the size of the stone and may need to use a clamp as you said.
