Get some good DIPA and RIS preferably very high ABV stuff in bottles. Drink them the day before then piss into a waterbottle and there you go sessionable DIPA and RIS without bottles. A guy at a bar told me he did this after drinking Rare and CBS wondering if he could actually have gotten a buzz a 2nd time?

Wyld was already mentioned; Baba and Cutthroat are 4%, too. These cans are pretty new, so I'm not sure how far they've made it yet.

Not sure if you get these in Virginia

    Wachusett Light IPA 4%

    Narragansett Summer Ale 4.2%

    And a little stronger

Baxter Celsius (might be a different name this year) 4.7%

    Baxter Xtra Pale Ale 4.8%

    Pilsner Urquell 4.4%

Murphy's Irish Stout 4% (may not work in your scenario)

    Harpoon UFO White 4.8%

    And coming this summer

    Sam Adams Boston Lager 4.9%

Basically, there's no shortage of sessionable beers, even in cans

I have followed this site for years without joining but the hubris of this was too much. If one is trying to define this by the "English" definition, there is no one authoritative source but the Oxford Dictuionary defines a "session" as a drinking period (far down on the list of uses) but no alcohol for the beer. It is certainly a concept of lower alcohol but the strict definition is arbitrary to a point and many have argued what that number is. This is not nor will be the last discussion of it here. Webster (credibility) does in fact define it at 4.5% and i would argue that Webster, this website and many of it's patrons are equally (if not more so) more authorataive than your site. Such arrogance seems unfitting of this site and culture.

I'd link you to explain why it's 4% ABV or under, and where that comes from, but it would probably get deleted.

At any rate, that's the last I'll post on the topic. Enjoy!

River's & fishing and multi-day sessioning for me if the abv has to be lower Genesee Cream Ale, I prefer the tall boys when I can get 'em. Otherwise, I like your 1st choice Old Chub. For me the 8% abv is the ceiling for session, I can drink Old Chub all night. Hell, Oskar's Lil Yella Pils would work too, lower abv & cans as well.

With a ceiling that high I imagine the floor is never too far away.

Wow, then apparently most people have a low constitution. Btw I'm not talking about a sixer in a night either. "All night long" being a figurative term. Not that I haven't drank many a big beer over the course of a few hours, but as with anything it's not a race.

The parameters of a "session ale" is defined by the user.

    End of story. :stuck_out_tongue:

Used to put away an 18 pack of Bud Ice (5.5%) over the course of the night in my pre-craft days. Being 6'4" 250lbs helps quite a bit too.

is it just me or is a 'session' description a craft brewers way of saying drink 15 of these instead of 15 bud lights. it costs 5x as much but youll get just as drunk!
    gimmick imo

be a real man, put your big boy pants on and drink a flat of bigfoot
