Oldest son tasted a beer (doesn’t remember the name) stated it was high gravity with a pronounced caramel flavor. Asking me to brew something similar. As a neophyte I have no clue. Have a few batches of extract under my belt and have purchased equipment for an all grain. Anyone willing to share a recipe (and words of wisdom) will be most appreciated.
My first style guess from your short description is that it could have been a Scotch ale / Wee Heavy. Possible? Recipes for that style are easy to find, but there's a recipe in the sub-forum above that might work. Just skip the barrel-aging part. https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/triumvirate-bba-wee-heavy.239723/
Going to need a lot more to go on other than “caramel flavor”. It was probably something along the lines of a English Barleywine or Wee Heavy. Do some research in those styles maybe?
