My lady friend is in Nashville for about a week to see family, and has offered to bring some beers back for me to the west coast. Anyone from Tennessee have a specific beer or brewery that I would be remiss not to try? State your case here to my benefit! Thanks.

Yazoo Sue is a great smoked Porter... Make sure you grab some Sweetwater and Terrapin while here... Good People... Straight to Ale...

Wiseacre can be found in Nashville now. Ananda and Got to Get Up to Get Down are canned. You should also be able to find Tiny Bomb which won a Bronze in Pilsner this year. Sue is amazing. I like Blackstone and Cool Springs bombers too. All of these are Tennessee breweries that can be brought back home to you.

x2 for Wiseacre and Good People (Alabama). x3 for Yazoo's Sue.

Recently tried Blackstone's Barista Brew. That is probably my favorite TN beer I have yet to try.

Blackstone Barista Brew is one of the best coffee stouts I had this season

Thanks for input so far. Will be in Nashville for a week in May.

Excluding Yazoo, which is a given, as well as Birmingham joints (been there, done that), are there any truly outstanding breweries with a focus on wilds/saisons/IPAs anywhere within, say, a 3 hour drive in any direction?

Cool Springs Brewery does those type of brews. Black Abbey would do Saisons...all belgian styles really.

I know there's not yet anything of major note in the wild/saisons being brewed up in Kentucky, but check tap lists, etc., there are some high quality IPAs in Lexington and Louisville, both on the outer boundaries of that 3-hour circle.

Asheville is about 4 1/2 hours from Nashville which is home to Wicked Weed

Thx for all the continued input!

Did Louisville last year and enjoyed that city very much. And would do Ashville every day of the week if I could, but that's just too far from Nashville (at least for me) for a day trip.

If you're not going to be in Nashville until May, keep an eye on two places in/near Lexington as potential wild/sour locales. Rooster Brew in Paris will have their first attempt to re-create their wild/open-barrel-fermented Godxilla out by then, if they can get close with a replication, you'll need to get here. It's insanely good.

And there's another new brewery in town, Ethereal, where they have sour aspirations, and some of the small batch experiments have been promising, but availability is scarce.

@jwjon1 Memphis is less than three hours from Nashville. We are home to several breweries, including Wiseacre.
