So you are looking for brewing software? Look into BrewCipher, iBrewmaster, Brew Pal, Beer Smith, or others

Beersmith 2.0. You'll be making excellent beer

The software is just a tool for the brewer that automates the calculations. I would bet a case of beer that many average beers that I have judged in competitions were formulated on Beersmith 2.0.

When it comes to beer recipe design I find these two books to be helpful:
    • Designing Great Beers by Ray Daniels
    • Brewing Classic Styles by Jamil Zainasheff and John Palmer
    Cheers!

Good advice for noobrewers about small all-grain recipe design:
Take a tasty-looking ready-made recipe and scale the grain and hop bills to the desired batch-size.

    The math is simple.

    If a recipe for a 5G batch-size calls for 10# of 2-row ...
    A 3G batch-size scales to: 3G / 5G * 10# = 0.6 * 10 = 6# of 2-row

    Same drill for hops ...
    If a recipe for a 5G batch-size calls for a 2 oz. hop addition
    A 3G batch-size scales to: 0.6 * 2 = 1.2 oz. hop addition

Finally ... boil times are boil times ... regardless of batch-size.
