i live in the Chattanooga, Tennessee and am interested in aging some of my beers. my main problem is that I dont have a basement in my house. We have a garage that stays fairly cool but im not sure if that is ideal. is a closet an ok place to try and age beer? im just trying to figure out the best way to go about this process. any advice would be appreciated! here is what i have now, and will be buying more:

    2011 Sierra Nevada Bigfoot
2010/2011 Brookyln Black Chocolate Stout (cellared at local beer store)
2010 Stone Imperial Russian Stout (cellared at the local beer store)
    2012 Founders KBS
    Rogue Double Chocolate Stout
    Smuttynose Imperial Stout

I just wanted to see best temp to age these and if its possible without a basement or proper cellar. thanks

Interior wall closet, and keep them in a box. They'll be just fine there. Living in Tennessee, you won't achieve 'best' temp without active cooling most likely, so just go for the most consistently cool place you can find.

Another great forum on starting out relating to a lot of "starting to cellar" questions happened in the past week, but is a little hard to discern due to the thread title. Good nuggets in here:

I keep my brews in an interior closet (I live in Boston, so much cooler here, but it does get hot in the summer) and it is the best you can do short of having a basement to use. If you have a place that doesn't have central air, their might be some benefit of using a closet in a room that stays coolest.

That is a great list of brews to cellar! Good luck.
