Can someone give me a a good beer bar within walking distance of the Hancock Tower area? Not familiar with this area and have limited resources. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Well, there is this: http://beermapping.com/maps/citymaps.php?m=chicago

    Having said that:
Jake Melnick's (42 E. Superior St. -- TGI-ish atmosphere, great beer list with a lot of imports, amazing chicken wings)
Clark Street Ale House (742 N. Clark St -- solid line-up of Midwestern taps, no food)
Farmhouse (228 W. Chicago Ave. -- probably closer to a restaurant than a bar but better taps than Clark St. and there is *some* bar seating)

    emerge077 and ravot like this.

This place is great. Kind of a walk (4 or5 blocks) from Hancock but great drafts for its size. Was there on Monday and they had beers left over from Chicago Craft Week. Their draft list on their website isn't quite accurate but gives you a good idea of what they have: http://farmhousechicago.com/beer. Plus they have another 30 or so beers available in bottles, including bombers.

Plus any time I've been in there the bartenders are super cool and pour samples.

i stopped into Timothy O'Toole's last night and was pleasantly surprised with the draft selection (click the name). not far from the tower. it's very much a sports bar vibe, which is not my preferred atmosphere, but for the beer selection, i can tolerate it for a bit.

Thanks a ton everybody. Already stopped by Clark St Ale House for a Founders Rye IPA, then probably stopping by Jake Melnicks later tonight. Maybe hitting up the others tomorrow. I truly appreciate the help!

It's a longer walk but old town pour house on wells has 90+ beers on tap. Not the rarest of all the craft bars but huge selection. I live walking distance of the Hancock but all my favorite beer bars are an el ride away.
