Let’s just the ignore the dickish parts of these sentences... you have no reason to be mad at JAG for wanting the originally agreed upon beers. There’s one way to fix this problem, you get him a Hydra and then fuck off of this beer trading hobby because you suck.

what he said. Same comments...they are all immature, I have the best beer, look at my list of 100 beers, they are trying to win the trade...only difference was his INSISTENCE on the other party to call him. Like physically call him, not text or anything...basically tough talk.

You could have avoided all of this if you just sent him another HH that you had, you failed to tell that. You are deceptive and i'm so glad i am caught up on situation so i can avoid doing any trade with you. Also seeing you talk in other posts about beers for trading and how you refer to Untappd as some type of measuring stick makes you sound so stupid. People like you are what is wrong with trading nowadays.

My feeling is that it's time to close this down (now that the OP has received his box).

I confess I'm more than a bit puzzled by all the name calling in this thread, but regardless, here's my impression of what transpired.

As we know, the two members agreed to trade 2 bottles each, but one of the boxes was irretrievably lost by the USPS. According to the OP, he received a tracking number and even filled out a lost package report (it's unclear whether or not he ever received any sort of reimbursement or compensation from the USPS). When he subsequently advised @LGHT of this, LGHT appears to have immediately agreed to resend a replacement box. According to the OP, one of the Bottle Logic variants he was hoping to get was no longer available and so he agreed to a different variant. When the replacement box arrived, it turned out he'd received the wrong replacement variant and it was leaking. LGHT placed the blame for this mistake on his "assistant," but later agreed to resend the correct replacement variant, along with one of the beers the OP had originally sent him in this trade. He also offered to send the OP cost of the other beer the OP had sent him (as he'd already drunk it), but it sounds like the OP declined this offer. It was at this point (or around this time) that the OP started this thread, initially asking for advice on what sort of feedback would be appropriate, given what had transpired (so far).

Nevertheless, at this point it sounds as if the OP felt he had been treated fairly (or at least felt that LGHT had agreed to "make it right"), assuming he received the correct replacement Bottle Logic variant (which was the Cryopreservation). The OP advised that he was under the impression that the original Bottle Logic variant he was hoping to get was no longer available (this was the Hypermash Hydra). In other words, that LGHT didn't have any more to trade. However, based on comments made by LGHT in some other trading thread, it appeared to the OP that LGHT actually did have additional bottles of the Hydra, but for some reason was not offering to furnish a replacement bottle to him. However, the OP was later advised by LGHT that "If I had an extra Hydra I would have sent a replacement right away." (it sounds like this was a direct quote from LGHT). Soon after this LGHT chimed in to provide his version of what transpired (this is the post from last Wednesday). In that post, he stated that he didn't have either of the original bottles he had offered to trade, but gave the OP a list of possible replacement bottles. He subsequently acknowledged the screw-up with the assistant shipment, and agreed to send the correct beer this time or a cash refund for the beers the OP sent. He suggested the OP give him a call if he wanted to discuss the matter further, and gave him his cell number. The OP indicated he still wanted the Cryo, noting that nothing like this had ever happened to him before, which is why he started the BA thread (and had asked for input regarding proper feedback). At this point LGHT told the OP it appeared he still wasn't happy (I gather because he still wasn't going to get a bottle of the Hydra), and so he then offered to send the Cryo, one of the OP's original trade bottles back to him (he had already drunk one so he couldn't send both back), as well as the cost of the bottle he had already drunk. The OP apparently indicated he didn't need to do all that; he just wanted the bottle of Cryo and for LGHT to pack it himself this time. LGHT indicated the box would be going out shortly, and based on recent posts from the OP, I gather LGHT did just that.

Frankly, it seems to me this should have been the end of this thread, but far from it. The thread quickly turned into a mud slinging contest, with many members contending that LGHT clearly had additional bottles of Hydra, and that there was no excuse for his failure to send a replacement Hydra to the OP. LGHT indicated that while there were bottles of Hydra in his possession, they actually belonged to a buddy (he had acted as a proxy for them), and so he wasn't at liberty to send one to the OP as a replacement. In any event, the OP subsequently stated he would be satisfied with the Cryo as a replacement, but still wasn't sure he would be able to leave positive feedback in view of what had transpired.

Except for more mud slinging back and forth, that seems to pretty much summarize what transpired here. As is often the case, it sounds like a little more and/or better communication would have gone a long way towards resolving this mess, and I'm still not sure what to say about the actions of LGHT's assistant (she may be easy on the eyes, but she doesn't seem to be very good at packing beer). For example, LGHT later admitted that he likely could have traded locally in order to obtain another bottle of Hydra, but was under the impression that the OP would be just as happy with the Cryo and likely didn't want to wait the extra amount of time required to obtain a replacement bottle of the Hydra. Yet he never mentioned this as a possible option to the OP.

Originally, this thread was started by the OP to get an idea as to what would be appropriate feedback for a scenario like the one he experienced. Ultimately, that's up to him, though no matter what he decides to do, I hope he includes a brief narrative outlining his experience (and possibly referencing this thread). As for @LGHT, my feeling is that members can make their own decision as to whether he's someone they still want to trade with, in light of the sort of behavior he demonstrated in his trade with the OP.

I'll leave this thread open for another 24 hours in case anyone would like to chime in. It sounds like several members have indicated that they might be able to help the OP obtain the original Hydra bottle he was hoping to get in this trade, which I think would be great.

@dmbforever. How does this sound to you? Anything further you'd like to add? Anything I left out?

@UcDru remember when you asked me for 7 letters or less? Could I just change my answer to a link to this thread? Would that count as one word?

I recently dealt with a bad trader situation myself. Most of you are aware of it. I did end up eventually getting a box, which was missing a few beers. I didn't want to chime in here, but I've been following this since day one, and I have my opinion, and a few key takeaways from this.

To start, @LGHT clearly screwed up here. He should have packed the box himself. All of this would have been avoided. Let this be a lesson to everyone. I've been tempted to have someone pack a box on one or two occasions, but never did, because it isn't worth the risk. Pack your own boxes.

@Jag237 is probably a nice guy and didn't want to rock the boat by asking for the original bottle, and it seems like he was given the idea it wouldn't be available. I've had this happen too - where the main promised bottle becomes unavailable, and I understand that it can be difficult to stand up and demand the original bottle. This should be up to the sender to rectify. I think that @LGHT should have made sending a Hypermash Hydra his number one effort after the issue arose. If something goes wrong and your trader doesnt get the agreed-upon beer, do everything in your power to get that beer and make it right.

@LGHT seems to think that @Jag237 is making himself out to be a "victim" here. I was recently "victim shamed" for calling out a trader who screwed me over on a trade as well. This just isn't cool. You agree to a trade, you follow through, and you do everything you can to make that trade right. In a way, @Jag237 is a victim, because he made a trade and didn't get the beer he traded for.

The "it's just beer, calm down" comment seems to pop up in every one of these BT situations. Yes, it is beer. Welcome to BeerAdvocate. We're not here to talk about soap operas. Don't pull that card on the trading section of a beer site. It's also time, effort, and money. You wouldn't say, "it's just money".

The box getting lost in the mail is not @LGHT's fault, but it should always be up to the sender to make good on a lost box. That's just the unspoken rule. Given something that serious, you shouldn't have had your hot Instagram model assistant pack the second box. There was already an issue, and you should have done everything possible to make sure there wouldn't be another one. The trade is between you and your partner. A third party interfering does not shift the blame.

@Jag237 never "overreacted" to anything. In fact, I think he was a bit too docile in not speaking up and trying to get the original HH. Once it's established that someone is in the right, comments like that will only dig your own grave.

@LGHT don't come into a thread guns blazing - it's a bad look. It seems like some people are familiar with your name, and it's hard to keep a level head when people are piling on - some quite aggressively. It's up to you to remain calm and rational while trying to address the situation at-hand.

Calling someone out for bad trader behaviour is one thing. It should be done, and it helps get things moving. However, the aggressive and blatant "fuck you dude" comments aren't getting anyone anywhere. I don't know @LGHT and at this point, I cannot defend him for a single thing, but when there is a situation that needs to be resolved, "fuck you's", don't get you very far. This goes for @LGHT calling @Jag237 an "immature adolescent" as well. If you don't want people to get upset over a disastrous trade, then either be a better trader, or don't trade beer.

There are expectations when trading, and those expectations should be met. When they're not, unfortunately, this is what happens. I looks like @Jag237 will ultimately walk away from this with what he was promised, and that's great. As for @LGHT, just owning up to your mistakes, apologising, and handling this properly would have gone a long way in your favour. It looks like you've had issues in the past with upsetting trade partners, and if that's true, perhaps you should reevaluate your trading practices. At the end of the day, ensuring your trading partner is satisfied is the number one goal. Their job is to take care of you, and yours is to take care of them. That goes for each and every one of us.

I hope this works out for both parties. It seems like @Jag237 doesn't want to pursue this any further, and clearly is not fully satisfied with the outcome. Thankfully, it sounds like someone will step up to get him that Hydra. It seems like @LGHT needs to step back from the situation and look at this from a different perspective, and maybe issue a statement or two. Recognising fault is the first step to improvement.

That's what I'm able to take away from this whole mess. Now I need a beer.

Just when you think this thread cant get any better.

Imagine @LGHT & @SierraNevallagash being both participants in a BT thread. I would pay for that

Thanks @John_M and @dmbforever . Can we request this thread stays open for at least a period of time after OP leaves feedback on this trade?

Honestly.....probably not. At the end of the day, its the OP's feedback to leave. We have given enough feedback for them to decide...with one exception...

@Jag237 As a moderator, I am making one request....whatever feedback you leave...please include either the link to this thread in your feedback or point your feedback in this threads direction for users to make their own decision on trading with your trade partner in the future.

Any questions contact me or @John_M

    Thanks

    Cheers!
