Hello again! Heading back down to Vero, will be taking some time away from VB to do some beer exploring as well. Looking for anything interesting/new/noteworthy to check out. Big or small, brewery or beer bar, all is OK. I am partial towards lagers and belgian style beers (trappist, not sour/wild) and tend to avoid hazy IPA and pastry stout. Ideally your suggestion is on the east coast, somewhere between Daytona Beach area and Miami area. I've hit every place in the immediate Vero/Sebastian/Ft. Pierce area. Thanks in advance.
If you get to Miami you could visit J Wakefield before they shutter their current Star Wars themed taproom later in October. They used to always have multiple decent hazies on tap, and several killer imperial stouts. But it's been a while since this was the case. Lately only one of each it seems. In Fort Lauderdale, I dig 3 Sons and Invasive Species the most. Honorable mention to Uncommon Path and to a lesser extent Orchestrated Minds.
Lincoln's Beard in Miami does lagers and Belgian Trappist style ales. I haven't been there, but they are on my list of places to go when I'm there next.
Hello! re-igniting this thread as I'm headed back in a few weeks and need recs in the Jacksonville/St Augustine area this time. from previous: "Big or small, brewery or beer bar, all is OK. I am partial towards lagers and belgian style beers (trappist, not sour/wild) and tend to avoid hazy IPA and pastry stout." Thanks in advance!
My favorite lager breweries would be Aardwolf in Jacksonville and Bog Brewing in St. Augustine. Check out Kickbacks in Jacksonville for an extensive cellar list of Belgian beers. A hidden gem for German lagers and food is Buchners Bierhall in Jacksonville.
not really relevant to this thread you'd probably do better checking site reviews here or on google or starting a new thread
I'm headed in some of these areas at the end of the month and wanted to see what you thought of the recs? Thanks in advance!
I ended up taking a different route, so I'm doing Tampa to Miami, to Fort Lauderdale. I've got about 10 breweries planned during my trip, so happy to share my experience!
i can't speak much to miami beer (my luck has been very bad and i don't love smoothies/pastries/hazy IPAs) but i must recommend barriehaus in tampa. def one of the best breweries i've been to in the last 5 years.
Full disclosure Jim Barrie, the owner, is a friend of mine. That said, he makes some of the best lagers in the entire country and somehow flies slightly under the radar. Incredible beer.
Thank you, both! I've actually got a few hours before I take a bus to Miami that I was not sure how to fill. I will hopefully check it out and include in my "report"!
yeah i love seeing national lager fests have a florida brewery in their lineup. thats not something id ever think id see 20 years ago
