I have just had Central Waters Peruvian Morning(Bourbon Barrel), and absolutely loved it. My question is how long Is usually the norm in cellaring a imperial coffee stout? I only ask this because I heard that its not good to cellar coffee stouts. Thanks for the Help Cheers!

The general consensus is that the coffee flavors will be one of the first things to fade while cellaring coffee anything. Many people prefer Breakfast Stout fresh because it's got the most coffee presence at that time, but if you're interested in seeing how it changes, go for it.

I had a two year old WnB that was still a punch to the face with coffee, so it really depends on the beer. But I'd really drink most within a year.

I've found a crazy amount of bottle variation in terms of coffee fading over time. However, drinking a coffee stout fresh is hard to beat.

I suppose this varies but I had a fbs fresh and it was great, and had one last night bottled in December and I have to say it was still damn good.

In my experience, it varies a lot from beer to beer. In some beers, the coffee can stay pretty strong for quite a while, in other beers it just fades away, and in the worst cases, it transforms into a nasty green bell pepper flavor. Not sure why different coffee beers age differently, but I've had plenty of beers that fit each of those three categories.

I loved this year's Peruvian Morning as well! Better than last year.

IMHO...if you are able, obtain your favorites, try a few now, then age some and drink in 6-12 month intervals. As stated several times now, it all depends on the brew.
