I'm currently looking for new beers to try, I'm 21 and haven't drank much prior to my birthday. I have tried a few beers, of the ones I've tried I like harp lager the best, then probably Molson Canadian. I'm looking for suggestions along the lines of those two brands. Any help would be appreciated!

I personally don't drink many beers too often that are similar to the ones mentioned above, but one of the best features of this site is under the Beers tab at the top. There you can look at the top rated beers by style, and you should be able to find many of those available in Illinois if you are anywhere near the Chicagoland area. If you're looking for similar styles I would recommend checking out the top beers listed under the Lagers, Ambers, and Blondes tabs. Those are relatively broad categories in themselves, but should at least provide a starting point if you're looking to explore more.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out sometime. I unfortunately don't live by Chicago, I'm in central Illinois. Lucky for me we have a Binnys, so I can get them there, I wish I could find them on tap though

Here is a link to a search that I did of the Places feature of this site. https://www.beeradvocate.com/place/list/?path=/place/list/&sort=name&show=search&searcht=place&name=&city=&s_id=&c_id=&zip=&area=217&submit=Search I requested breweries in area code 217 (you could do the search again and ask for good beer Bars for more choices), so if you are in Central Illinois, some of these breweries are close to you. Click on the closest ones on the list, and if they list a Pilsner or a Pale Lager and it looks like it is available year-round, go there and try it. If you like that beer, then try others while you are there. You'll learn style diversity while you're at it, and support a local brewery.

Welcome to the BA site. Browse around the site and discover all of the features such as the Places database which is searchable using various qualifiers.
