My family is taking a vacation in Savannah, GA. Can anyone help in pointing me towards good brewpubs/breweries and some decent craft beer stores?

    Thanks!

Ditto, I will be down there in a couple of weeks so any help is appreciated.

This doesn't help, but Vinnie van go-go's has good pizza and The Rail Pub (great dive bar) is right there.

This also doesn't help, but get you some artillery punch.

Moon River is an nice brewpub down by the riverfront (Bay St) in a historic building that's supposedly haunted. Big outdoor beer garden too if the weather is nice. One of the guys from Moon River posts on here so he'll have some good suggestions for you when he sees this thread.

The Distillery is the beer bar everyone says to visit. It's a little farther inland, near where I-16 dumps off in the city. There's also a World of Beer on Broughton.

Also, Southbound and Service are breweries in the city, but you can't simply "stop by" a brewery like you can in Illinois. Breweries aren't allowed to sell beer to the public, so instead they give out tickets and you can buy a $12ish pint glass and you can try ~8oz samples of their beer (times however many tickets they give you). Breweries are typically not kid friendly. Your best bet on that front will be Moon River, as the brewpub laws are more in line with what you expect in other states.

Thanks for the help! That is very different from our laws so thanks for the heads up! Also, does anyone know about the The Bierhaus, any good?

I was down in Savannah and visited the two Habersham's on my through. Managed to pick up some good brews from Westbrook (not Mexican cake though), New Holland (Dragon's Milk is damn good), O'Dempsey's and my wife loved RJ Rockers Peachy King. Both stores have a nice selection and I found it well organized and the staff was helpful. Worth a stop in your looking for some bottles.
