Hello All- so I just bought my husband a dual,kegerator- the EdgeStar KC200 dual kegerator. I want to have two new kegs in it when he gets home from his deployment this Saturday. The keg takes 2, 1/6 kegs. Question is where can I buy 1/6 kegs? We live in Northern Virginia. I would love to get Founder's Breakfast Stout but it looks like it doesn't come in 1/6. Any guidance on where to buy 1/6 kegs would be great. Thanks!

    welcome.
the kc2000 is a single faucet entry level kegerator. i assume you have upgraded your tower to include two faucets as well as two couplers for the kegs.

that appliance will hold one half barrel keg, what is normally known as "a keg" without any modifiers like 1/4 keg, pony keg etc. it will also hod two sixtels, which are not very economical and have limited supply of beer brands available.

i suggest you make your life easier for now and just find a half barrel keg of something hubby would enjoy. 15.5 gallons, so be sure he does in fact like it.

as to where to find, you need to go to your local beverage store and ask for kegs. or use google. or the yellow pages. get to know your new friend, they will be ordering your kegs. one of us from the area might know a good place, but you need to know that beer sales is highly regulated, tends to be territorial and what is normal in one state is not at all universal anywhere else. so it is difficult for anyone to who isn't local to know what is a good deal and what is available.

lastly, feel free to ask questions. that kegerator does not work the way it should right out of the box, it is an economy model and will need a few tweaks. so please review this forum, search "foam" "system balance" "line length" "regulator" "tower cooler" just to name a few.
    Cheers.

Assuming OP means Edgestar KC2000TWIN, with the talk of 2 taps. That is the same model I have.

You will almost undoubtedly, need to research a 'Tower Cooler' for this kegerator, they are fairly cheap, and really help control foaming/temperature issues for your kegs. Also, prepare to run that thing at almost the coldest setting that it will allow; that will of course mean, you're defrosting it from the ice build up as well.

As for FBS, you are correct, it comes in 1/4 kegs. You also cannot fit a 1/4 and a 1/6 keg in that model. In quite a few dual tap kegerators, you can get both in snugly, but not this model. If you go the way of FBS, you will have to just be content with a single keg in there, until it is finished.

As for supply locations, it is still sometimes a hard game to 'play'. You can always hit up Total Wine and ask if something can be ordered for you, if there is one close. Also, any specialty bottle shops that keep their on taps for sale, probably can order what you want. I've used both Total Wine, and my local shops, to get the brews that I've wanted, in kegs.

For NOVA, Norm's Beer and Wine in Vienna has some or can order them. It's a bit of a drive, but Stateline in Elkton, MD has a ton in stock. They have a good website with their stock.

Sixtels are easy get, just ask around. Good luck with it, and thanks for your husbands service!

PS. I'm still pissed at Founders for changing over to quarter kegs which won't fit in my kegerator. I used to LOVE my keg of Breakfast Stout each year.
