Maybe someone out there can help me with this, I would like to know if this beer still exists, as it was one of my first ever craft experiences. While I was stationed in Delaware 2004 -2008, my friends and I would sample "strange beer" six-packs on the weekends, I tried this stuff, but the name is fuzzy, it started with an M, I want to say Matilda or Mad something, and I am not referring to Goose Island Matilda as this was some kind of coffeeish bitter heavy darker beer, I remember I loved it and it was around 8-9% Abv, dark red in color. Does anyone know the beer I am referring to, have you seen this beer, please alert me if you do know and if it is still available, this is an itchy spot on my brain that I can't scratch and it is bugging the piss out of me.

    Thanks

When I think of that region and era (well, maybe a bit earlier in my case) and "M" for a beer that color and higher ABV - first thing I think of is Old Dominion Millennium Ale.

Tho' I doubt that'd be it :grinning:

Thanks for the replies, but I am not so sure it was any of these, I know I am no help with the information I gave and maybe I am completely off with the name, but I was sure it started with an M and that it was the normal American style 12oz bottle in a six pack and the label was black

and this was probable not brewed in DE just available at the local licquor store

I doubt it was regularly available in DE back in 2004-2008 (or now), and doesn't really have a bitter, coffee flavor profile, but it is a higher ABV beer (though higher than what you recall) that comes in a 12oz. bottle. AND the name starts with M-A-T.
