The Brownies are back at home this weekend to take on the Steelers and I'm making my second trip this month from Toledo for the game. I'd like to hit a brewery on Saturday for dinner/brews/maybe tour with the girlfriend. I figure top options are Brew Kettle, Great Lakes, Hoppin Frog, and Fat Heads. Now I've tried many, many of their beers that are distributed.

My question is which one should I go to based on: beer selection other than standard series, price, and probably most importantly - good food.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Brew Kettle or Hoppin' Frog (if you don't mind the extra 45 minutes from Cleveland).

If food is really the most important and you don't mind paying a few extra dollars per meal, then you can't go wrong with Hoppin' Frog. They are many steps above regular bar food. I most recently had their duck along with their barrel aged DORIS and immediately thought it was one of the best meals I've ever had, anywhere.

Brew Kettle on the other hand has some amazing BBQ meals (try the BBQ Spaghetti, it's fantastic) as well as a large number of draft beers beyond their own standards including locals and nationals. Check their website before you leave for the tap list as that may help sway your decision.

The experience at Great Lakes is average at most, but if you want to bar hop a little, W. 25th St. includes some great places like Bier Markt (beligan beers mostly), Town Hall, Nano Brew and Market Garden which are all worth a visit and within a couple of blocks of each other.

I hear that Fat Heads can be a great experience, but that's one place I haven't ventured to yet.

Gotta go with Brew Kettle or Fat Heads. You can't go wrong at either place.

My vote is for Fat Head's. Every time I've eaten there, the food was great. And of course, 30+ varieties of beer, usually around a 50/50 split between FH and outside taps.

You won't go wrong with The Brew Kettle either. I've only eaten a meal there once, but every time since, I've had the 6 way chili and it's always been ridiculously good.

I've been to Fat Heads, and will go again. Sat at the bar and the beer, food and service were all top notch. Nano Brew had a pretty diverse tap list from craft breweries around the US, Cleveland, and in-house. never made it to Bier Markt due to time restraints.

GL is good if you want to hop around- there's a few places within walking distance and good bars 5 minute drive away in Tremont. Check their website to see if there are any amazing pub exclusives you can't miss. Fatheads has huge, greasy delicious food and a a great selection of beer. Hoppin Frog is out of the way, and basically just an overpriced tasting room that serves food.
