I recently found a shop that has some old beer, which can be good... considering that they have 2 cases of 2013 SN bigfoot barley wine for $12 a 4 pack! My question is, should I take a risk and pick up their bottle of founders 2013 mango magnifico and dogfish head bitches brew from 2011? Would those two age well? Also, should I snatch up the case of bigfoot while I have a chance?

I wouldn't hesitate on any of it.

Pull the trigger. Mango might be better with age.

I'd pass on the Mango and go for the DFH and as much Bigfoot as I could budget.

Okay so I should get both cases of bigfoot and grab a few 2011 bitches brews? I've had their 2014 and enjoyed it. The mango is $20 so I'm going to pass unless anyone is looking for a bottle to complete a set or something (they only had 1 but I have no idea how long it'll last)

That Bigfoot price doesn't seem all that great for a beer that's been sitting around, though. Maybe if the op is willing to swing a case they can work out a better deal. The beer should be just fine and dandy either way, though.

Yeah, and I could rationalize the price of the Bigfoot since it is pre-aged for me. :-) I figure I could do about a bottle a month before its pushing the age limit.

Offer $120 for both cases ($10/4 pack)
That seems reasonable considering that you are willing to get rid of their old beer for them.

Maybe $60 a case would be fair to both parties.

ETA- cross posted with @SammyJaxxxx , but I guess that confirms where the price should be

I'd go for the Bigfoot never had the other two.

I could be wrong, but I think you just have to accept the new terms for trading on http://www.beeradvocate.com/trading/

In my experience, aging does little for Bitches Brew, which is driven by its flavorings. Best fresh, as these will only fall out over time (think of chicory as comparable to coffee).

As for Mango Magnifico, I didn't care for it either way. Apologies, but I really had high hopes for this one.

That leaves the Bigfoot. I'll leave it to others more familiar with the beer to comment on its merits. The price does seem a bit high compared to my market, however ($9.99/4 pk.).
