Hi guys, I'll be in Huntington Beach soon. Looking for a good bottle shop. Any good breweries/brew pubs I should check out, too? I'll have a car, so I can drive around a bit. I saw a similar thread dedicated to LA/OC, but I'm not too familiar with the geography. And I saw a similar thread about HB, but it was dated. So, I'd appreciate some ideas. Thanks! Cheers!
Your best bet isdriving to nearby Anaheim to get the best OC offerings at Noble, Bruery and Bottle Logic.
Also download the Taphunter app and it will show you a lot of nearby locations and what they have on tap. That's the best source for you
Liquor Warehouse at 9092 Adams Ave, Huntington Beach, CA 92646 Is the best beer shop in the area. Best prices within 50miles
All of the above mentioned……plus add Beach City Brewery in HB to your list since you'll be in HB. How long are you in town for? Four Sons just opened a month in half ago. They are just 2 blocks away from BCB. My local now is BCB since I'm only 3 blocks from it. They opened earlier this year and they have improved alot since. I would recommend BCB for sure. 4 Sons is still getting used to. But you should stop in and check em out as well. For more premier brewery's Beachwood BBQ & Brewing in Long Beach is a must stop on the list. As well as Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach. When are you arriving in HB? Noble Ale in Anaheim has the best beer going right now and thats Noble Showers in bottles and pints at the brewery. But it aint going to last long. I just had Recursion 1.1 from Bottle Logic and that is really really good. But hell, theres a lot more great beers out there in the OC are. Depends on how long your visit is.
Thanks guys! I appreciate all of the tips. Fairly quick trip, just 4 days. Is BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse any good? Looks like that is near my hotel.
Foodwise yes, a pazookie is always good. beer-wise, ummm, does it sound bad if I say you have a lot better choices in the area? It isn't that the beer is bad, it is just....if I had a choice.....
Since I work at Bjs I'll enlighten... Beers are average in the "craft scene"... To newbies, they are above average. Menu is quite extensive. Pumpkin and Oktoberfest on as seasonals
I've been to the two breweries in HB: Beach City Brewing and Four Sons Brewing. I think that Four Sons is a lot better than Beach City right now. They have some interesting and creative beers, and I think that their double IPA is exceptionally solid for a new brewery. Beach City has some decent stuff, but it just isn't hitting the mark yet, IMO.
I would also add Karl Strauss in Costa Mesa. Their Mosaic Session is good and the will be releasing Peanut Butter Cup Porter next week. Shot me a BM when you in HB and if I'm not working we can meet up at Beach City for a pint. I think I still may have one bottle of Just Outstanding I can bring to share. Cheers
Hey guys, thanks for all of the suggestions. Unfortunately, the wife was sick the whole time. So, I didnt get too have too much fun. Had some great brews at the restaurant right next to the pier, under Dukes. Can't recall the name. But, did enjoy some Pliny and a flight of some good local stuff. Cheers!
