Not to be an ass, but why not just go without beer/alcohol for awhile?

I don't know anyone in IFBB (and others) who drink craft or even light beer; all alcohol is empty calories (so are soda, sports drinks, bottled juice). Maybe in a bulking phase, but you're not bulking. If you talked with a nutritionist you should probably stick the course.

I hope this wasn't some "aha moment" after getting lost on YouTube. But, either way, I don't see this ending well. This is a lifestyle change, not cutting corners and jumping through loopholes change.

    Best wishes on your endeavor.

Lone Star Brewing Co. was bought out in the mid-70s by Olympia but the brewery in San Antonio remained open until the late 1990s. After Pabst bought the brand in '99, they probably brewed it at their Pearl brewery until that closed (circa 2002) and Pabst went full contract brewery route.

But the beer is still brewed in Texas (and, according to the TTB COLA's, only in Texas) at the same MillerCoors brewery in Ft. Worth where your locally-sold Coors Light no doubt comes from according to MillerCoors info.

    Any pub in the UK will have a choice of low ABV beer.Here is one which has been a favourite for over 50 years ;
Beautifully crafted , lots of lovely flavours dancing on the tongue, each mouthful better than the one before.Just 3.4% ABV.
Worth noting that it began as a full pint , was topped up to allow for any head , this beer is from the cask via handpump with no top pressure applied. Those who think cask ale is flat please look.

I'd say save the calories and skip the beer altogether if you have to "force" yourself to drink something light. At least in my opinion. If I am not going to thoroughly enjoy it, I won't bother drinking it and save those calories.

But a good session beer as in my post above is sheer joy to drink. It does not take very long to forget the low strength.

Oh, if someone enjoys it, then by all means, cheers! But if someone is looking for a low calorie beer which they normally don't enjoy, just because they want to continue to drink beer while trying to lose weight, my advice is to just try to not drink beer until you lose the weight instead.

From OP's title, it didn't sound like they enjoy light beer. If he/she does find one they manage to enjoy, great, but if not, don't force it. Save those calories.

If it's beer. . . I'll drink it. So while I fancy myself as a bit of a beer snob, I also have no qualm with pounding Coors Light or Colt 45 all day long.

For my favorite Light beer I go to Corona Light. Preferably in a can if you can find it ( and you can fit a lime in there if you want).

Honorable mention goes to Amstel Light.

Session premium lager, coming out in cans and 145 calories

Seems to be a strange name. Round here a session beer is under 4% ABV , a Premium beer is a step stronger.Above 5% it is termed "strong"which may surprise many in the US ,but it is related to drinking habits of drinking multiple pints in a sitting.
So session premium is an oxymoron in beer terms.

This discussion is reasonable, and I don't mean to come in rude, but if I needed/wanted to lose weight, I'd rather have a solid IIPA or stout (or maybe a sour) to scratch the itch, and cut the frequency to one serving every say 3 days. Focus on tea/coffee/yerbe the other days. I'd also probably try to get together with people and try to get nips at a few beers (4x3oz is still 12oz).

Consuming extremely light beers, which are still relatively calorie rich, yet lack flavor and I don''t usually care for... I for one, think the OP deserves better!

Well, that's one way to go! Haha. I have some single-barrel bourbon I bought last year and haven't opened...

Yes, scour the hills for a well made English mild. I've found two by local breweries that pack a lot of flavor in the low ABV. They are NOTHING like what we have come to appreciate as "light" beer. They just aren't that common in the states...happy hunting!

This is pretty much what I am looking for. I also think an APA that was around 5% would be ok as well, if I can find a good one.

For everyone who had the really unhelpful advice: just don't drink beer while losing weight. If OP is like me and others, the effective result of that would be that he'd never have a beer again. In my case, I've been going with "good beers, much less often", but the reality of summer BBQ and outdoor party season is that I'll need to modify that. I do agree that I'd rather just have water than Miller Lite or Bud Light. But there are beers that taste good and are low abv. English Milds are high on that list, but so are a variety of pale lagers. The JA Vienna Kellerbier is on my list to try.

Not sure if it has been recommended, but Kona Big Wave is a very tasty blonde ale at 4.4 ABV.

Great discussion, guys. Yes, "giving up beer while I lose weight" is an absurd proposition unless I simply want to never drink beer again. I've fought weight all my life, including the first 20 years in which I had not a drop of beer and the following 15+ years where I had no more than 2 or 3 beers a month. So yeah, I'm fat. I need to lose about 95 pounds.... but no, not willing to go beer-less until I reach goal weight.

Exercise every day (running works best for me, but walking is just as good...just takes longer)
    Eliminate all fast food
Eliminate all sodas, sports drinks, etc.
    Monitor portion sizes of meals
Don't snack and if you absolutely must, make it healthy (handful of almonds, carrot sticks, etc.)
Red meat no more than once per week (stick with poultry, fish, and pork)
Don't eat desserts or other sweets
Reduce carbs (if having a sandwich, go with one slice of bread rather than two)
    Keep drinking beer
