When I look into the ISO:-FT: forums, I see $4$ many times. Please help me understand the trading lingo and acronyms. New to trading. Thanks fellow BA's
Dollar for Dollar trades are really only usually done for readily available off the shelf beers locally available. They are the easiest trades to get your feet wet and you can get to try a lot of awesome beers you don't get locally. When you start getting into limited and rare bottles it kind of sucks the fun out of it because it seems nowadays everyone wants to maximize the return on their bottles instead of being fair and having fun.
Some people just fail to realize that their rare bottle is still just beer. It's not a bar of gold and I am not trading my right arm for it. Dollar for dollar is really the way to do it.
$4$ also does not mean the following... -You bought a bottle at the only store charging $5 more a bottle than everywhere else around you so you charge more. - You had to drive to get to a release, get a hotel, buy a ticket to an event, eat dinner on the way, pay for the internet to put up the ISO so you charge more to compensate.
Making long term trading partners and friends where it reaches a point where you just send beer because you know your friend will like it far exceeds any short term joy someone gets by "winning" a trade.
The entire link is extremely helpful if you're new but for acronyms http://alewatcher.blogspot.com/2010/11/new-trader-tips.html#Abbreviations
