Trading some of my '13 bcbs and bcbw away and looking to score some IPAs. I know the dollar amounts I spend on the '13s when I bought them, but do I factor in value appreciation in the year I have cellared them? If so how much? Trying to be as fair as possible while still getting good value for a sought after item. Thanks in advance
Personally, I do not figure in any appreciation. Honestly, I go $4$ for most things so I probably don't "maximize my value" nor do I include rarity into my offers so maybe I'm not the best person to answer this
Bcbs does gain some value for some people as it ages, and there's nothing off about asking more for vintage beer people do it all the time. Having said that, a year in the cellar doesn't add much, if anything, to 13 bcbs. If you were trading 09 or 08 0r 10. Or something with real age on it, that would be a different story. All IMHO of course.
