Rumor has it Bernick's has purchased Needham Distributin through a broker . It sounds like closing will be the middle to late July.
Being relatively unfamiliar with different distributors what does this mean (if anything) for those of us in the Twin Cities? Any new breweries going to find there way here as a result?
Bernick's portfolio is extremely local. They have pretty much every non-self-distributing brewery in NE Minneapolis with the exceptions of Fulton and Bauhaus. So at most some local stuff might find its way into more stores.
Rumor has it, Bernicks makes a lot of money out of this deal and doesn't retain the big brands of Summit and Grainbelt. Also, Needham is out of stock on virutally every beer so maybe the June 30th date of closing their doors is accurate.
