Some citrus (tangerine) at first, later in the mug’s worth an herbal hop flavor came out. It was not a strong aroma or flavor, but very nice to my tastes.

    Wasn't a fan, either.

i've had some beers where Belma was in the mix, and enjoyed them. I altered my hop schedule to cut down on Belma and introduce some mosaic instead of mandarina. should make for an interesting combo.

I use Mandrina and Huell as complimentary (around 10%). I think you can use Halerrtau Blanc with good success even in a dominant roll.
I will definitely be on the lookout for Strata!
I used Ekuanot closer to 25% of the total hops, because I get a green pepper flavor that can over power if I use too much.
I think Idaho 7 is great and has a massive dankness to it.

I used it in a single hop pale ale and was underwhelmed. Nothing bad - to my palate it was like a light version of Cascade. I didn't get any of the strawberry or melon notes.

I also used it in combination with other hops (Ekuanot & Cascade), where unsurprisingly I felt like it didn't come through in any meaningful way.

Based on a pale ale that I recently brewed and just started drinking, I would strongly recommend Bravo for flavor/aroma purposes, particularly if you are going for a fruity, citrusy character that isn't dank, resinous, or tropical. The description in the Brülosophy "hop chronicles" summary is quite accurate in my view: floral, citrusy (tending toward orange rather than grapefruit), and sweet. The one place I disagree is that I don't detect any tropical character, which was prominent in the survey data in the hop chronicle review.

I know Bravo is usually thought of as a bittering hop, and I can't deny the logic of that given that it clocks in at around 17-18% AA. But I am blown away by how pleasing it is as a flavor/aroma hop. I'm not normally a hop person, but Bravo is changing my mind.

Got a pound in the freezer would I be better off with a single hop apa or apa? What did you get from it and what hops might compliment it in your opinion?

I like Nelson but it’s definitely not for everyone. I’ve met a few brewers that get a petrol harshness from it and I taste it but it’s so different from other hops that I like it

I’m gonna throw topaz and eureka in the ring. Haven’t been able to find pounds for awhile but when I did a few years ago I brewed a super juicy ipa with these two and mosaic. It was about as close to a glass of juice as I’ve gotten

Another vote for Citra, Denali, and El Dorado. I have a pale ale fermenting with these right now that smells really good. Pineapple, mango, citrus notes

this makes me feel better about my newest recipe using 15oz total of hops....for roughly a 3.5-3.75g batch, where only 2.5g will get kegged.

They came off as mostly herbal, so making a light colored lager or saison would be very appropriate, IMO. Other, more tropical fruit forward, hops won't clash with it, per se, but they won't be terribly complementary either.

I used it in a DIPA a few months ago. Nice strawberry aroma, but would use it in conjunction with something else next time. Flavor was kind of one note.

Anyone ever exclusively dry hopping only? No boil, no whirlpool?

Would that lead to a straight juice, no bitterness NEIPA?

I’ve done this with great results but started adding 5 minute hops for a more well rounded flavor. Never gone back to 60 minute additions in ipas

I have done all whirpool in hot and no cold (dry) hops. it was too basic and now round enough but glad I tried. was definitely still good though.
